It's hard to deal with this!

It's like you had a lobotomy or something.

I feel like I'm in mourning for the very essence of Mimitabby. You have severed yourself from all the accumulated wisdom and joy of life that you have contributed over the past several years.

    Dear Lovegods and TE galpals,

Just wanted to update. My ldr fella is moving one state closer, and plans to relocate here in a year. He's becoming more wonderful, and I'm close to adoring him right back! Racer guy was diverted to a single cycling aquantance (2nd 'date' we've shared! That's what we get for being the few and only singles in our general age range and roadies in our small area, lol) and through the grapevine, I know I made the right choice!

    Thanks. I'm happy!

    Dear Me,

Turn off your brain when you climb in mountain biking. Thinking about crashing only means you will. Go for it remember "Can't never could". Thanks Grandma Ellen for that one!

Dear Makers of the Chicken Pox Vaccine -
    It doesn't work.
My DD has the pox as I write this letter. She has been vaccinated. I did not want her vaccinated in the first place b/c I didn't think the "trials" were long enough. I did not know that she was vaccinated until the smiling nurse came in with the information sheets and the pox vaccine was amongst those given. Grrr. That was years ago. I've gotten over it, can you tell?
The boy who she got chicken pox from was out of school for 10 days. Guess what? He has been vaccinated as well.
    It isn't working.
Don't be so confident in your assumptions next time you produce a vaccine. Give it a little longer trial period.
    80-90% effectiveness isn't that good.
Don't push it on the public.
Require informed consent before smiling nursed give it to kids.
    Thanks,
    Flybye

Dear friends who are going through relationship troubles (hereafter known as Jack and Jill):

I'm very sorry that you're having such a difficult time in your relationship right now. I can only imagine how hurt and angry you both feel right now. But please don't trap DH and I in the middle of this. We're friends with you both, and want to remain friends. Please don't make us choose sides.

Jill, it really hurt my feelings when you told me that, since DH and I were Jack's friends first, you plan to disconnect from all of the people who were part of your life together, including us. Clearly you don't value our friendship- we're just people to call when bad stuff happens (like right now). Nothing like being used....

Jack, I don't even know what to say to you. I feel like I don't know the real you. I certainly didn't expect to hear much of what I've heard, from both you and Jill.

Oh, that stinks, Becky. I hope you told her so

I told her that, if that's what she needed to do, I understood. I'm trying to put myself in her shoes and think about what sorts of irrational things I would say and do if I were in her place. I know that she's hurting so much right now....I don't want to be selfish or make things worse.

    Dear project manager,

Stop thinking you have to convince me that the Very Bad Idea put forth by your marketing squad is something other than a Very Bad Idea. Please remember that in the context of your project world, I am a mercenary. You don't have to get my buy-in to proceed with tanking your branding strategy.

The quality of *my* product--you know, that thing you're paying me to produce for you--is the same either way...and so is the amount for which you'll be invoiced. In fact, given the way you guys have managed to balloon this thing out from one large project into about thirty small and medium sized projects, means that you'll probably be invoiced for more than you would have if we had gone forward with the other concept. (more business owners = more people to talk to = more of my time spent in endless meetings + more time sifting through the noise to find the actual important stuff)

Also, just because I'm the only one pointing out that this is a Very Bad Idea, it does not mean that I am the only one who thinks so. It just means I'm the only one willing to say it out loud when People Who Make Decisions are in the room. In fact, if you actually talked to your team about anything other than Gantt charts, you would find out that no one is on board with this plan. That's right. Not a single person in analysis, design, dev, or even program management thinks this is the right direction. You should really be more worried about them...they actually work for your company.

As for me. I'm going back to working on my design collaboration games, and drawing comics. If you're going to give me work that I don't really care about, then I'm at least going to make it interesting for myself. (And turn it into something I can write/speak about for profit later.)

    Regards,
    Dex

Oh, I misunderstood -- you said something about not racking up points anymore, so I thought you had found some magic way of keeping your number of posts at 50! I see now that they are still expanding. I am sure you'll be ahead of me again in no time!

And I didn't even notice you were no longer mimitabby! You'll always be that to us, though....

    Dear LBS,

When you place a special order for me, but you screw up and order the wrong item, could you maybe apologize and offer to order the correct item instead of saying "whatever" and just walking away from me? Oh, nevermind...I'll just order it on the internet myself next time, since you clearly don't need my business.
