I have always found thin merino Smartwool socks to be very helpful in preventing blisters on long walks and hikes. They are not hot either, and don't get clammy when you sweat like cotton socks can do.

I put Body Glide on any blister prone areas before I put my socks on. It usually works!
No SK, I don't have the socks from you yet. This weekend! I do think the blisters are from the socks I used, can't remember which ones they are though.
I'll see how my feet survive our 10 miler (in two weeks).
I've tried merino wool socks, they don't work for me, not enough cushioning.
Snap - I would suggest trying the bodyglide as well. It works really well for triathletes who use it so that they can run without socks in their shoes at all. I use it and have had good success. I also like the smart wool socks but it sounds like that's not an option for you unless maybe you try the hikers which have more cushioning I think.
