    Cody does this while he's on our bed. He'll lay facing us for about 5 minutes, enough time to get his head scratched, and then do a 180 to face the door. We've discussed flipping the bed in the room so that the door is behind (rather than in front of) us, just to see what he'll do

    What he would probably do is wind up sleeping on your faces

    Some dogs are just very protective. My Chow was that way. Wherever I went at home, he'd be between me and the door. He really hated a room with two doors, because he couldn't cover both of them.

    LOL! He did that last night, until I made him move. It was better to sleep on top of mom and dad's respective shoulders than it was to risk touching the evil feline who was inhabiting the foot of the bed
