ARGH This is one of my worst nightmares! I don't why, just the idea of going backwards scares the bejasus out of me

Good for you for handling it well!

I tried to do something like that in Grand Haven. We don't have hills like that in Jackson. I couldn't get my gears to downshift so I had to climb a steep incline in a high gear. It was that or fall down because for some reason I can't unclip going up a hill. I felt like I was tearing every muscle in my quads, but after about a week I recovered.
I would really like to try mountain biking but my husband is not interested.
I really like the Western part of the state. we camp there a lot.

not any mountain biking- just bigger road hills than I'm used to. Especially in the part of town right near the water. I haven't done any trail riding or true mountain biking. I can't seem to get my Husband interested in it. There are trails we could go on near home, but it is fairly flat compared with the western part of the state. There are some trails near Grand Haven in a county park-can't remember the name of it, but it's just south of the town on Lakeshore drive. Don't know if bikes are allowed or not.
