Looking small replacement parts: rear tail light attachment piece

Could you make one from a stainless steel blank from a hardware store? SS blanks come in all sizes, and are pretty easy to cut or drill. I fashioned a fender bracket from one.

What are these things of which you speak? Where would I find one (hardware store, bike store, etc)?
