Odd doggies

my dog has recently started eating poop. it's disgusting and i have to watch him like a hawk and he's so disappointed that i won't let him. i wish i could get him to stop cause then he gets sick later and it's horrible.

both my dogs will lay completely on their backs and the poop eater stretches like a cat (front legs out with arched back).

I have another addition to this thread.

A few days ago the landscaper came to trim the ginormous apple tree we have in our yard. Many of the apples fell as he was doing this.

One of mine is now obsessed with picking up the apples and carrying them inside. She's very picky too - she'll sniff and pick up a few, toss them away, until she finds THE ONE, and then she hightails it back in so she can eat her "prize".

That tree has been dropping apples the entire two years she's been here. And she hasn't ever shown any interest in them until now.

There is a product called Deter that you can add to your dogs food that will help prevent your dog from eating poop. We had to do it for a while with our dogs and it seemed to really help stop them.

They're wormy and apple seeds are toxic. Sometimes I do let her eat them for a little bit, though. Silly girl.

Love the pics of the apple eater! They reminded me of another weird thing Cody does:

Our backyard is full of raspberry and blackberry vines that were planted by the previous owner. Shortly after we moved in, DH was picking berries and dropped a few. Without thinking, he pointed to them and said, "Cody, get it", just as we do when we drop food inside. We now have a dog who will eat every berry off the bushes if I don't watch him like a hawk!

My miniature schnauzer Heidi is a total nut. She does one thing we call "psycho dog", she will just for no reason jumping up and tear through the house at break neck speeds. If she runs into you she will bark then change course and run. She really seems to enjoy our house and my parents because they make a loop.

She barks at kids, she is totally annoyed by the small ones. She really flips out if they are on bikes. At my parents house she sits on the back of the couch which looks at the street and totally goes insane. Luckily for us the dining room is in the front at my house and living room is in the back, she never notices the kids.

When she eats she grabs food and brings it to where we are. And she runs when doing this, she must burn off half the food just carrying it to be eaten.

She scratches her water bowl if empty, but scratches the back door if the food bowl is empty.

She crawls under the covers to sleep. When she used to sleep in the bed she would crawl between my legs, no concern if I was comfortable.

Her grossest weird thing is she tries to lick up your nose. Sometimes she has caught me off guard and succeeded, it feels as disgusting as it sounds.

My other dog Maggie only does a few weird things: she throws all the food out of the bowl to eat and she arches up like the yoga position cobra and rubs her tummy on the carpet. It looks so weird. She also will sleep sitting up, she looks like Eeyore when she does it.

I'm dog-sitting a friend's Maltese this week and here are a couple of the funny things he does. Out on a walk, he feels the need to stop and lift his leg on every tree/hydrant/etc. which sounds pretty normal but after the first couple of times NOTHING is coming out anymore but he still keeps doing it anyway! I think he still thinks he's doing something. The other thing is that if anyone is sitting at the kitchen table eating something, he'll hang out under the table in case we drop any crumbs. Not really that odd but amusing nonetheless.

LOL! Does she chew up stuff made of certain fabrics? My Niki is the Foaminator. One time she got into my husband's range bag, pulled out a gun case, carried it into the backyard, opened it, removed the gun (which was unloaded), and proceeded to chew up the foam lining.

I think Indy would have loaded the gun and shot a squirrel. They frustrate him.
