Secret buoy sighting techniques, wetsuit cutting, great food, and fun? When's the next one?

I'm seriously considering the Subaru event, and it's not right after Danskin-- it's the first weekend of September, so there's plenty of recovery time in between events!

A few details to add to Salsa's account:

Saturday started with some running drills. Wahine taught us a dynamic warmup and then sent us around the track a bunch of times. It was my first run in two years Good thing the track was nice and squishy.

Dex brought an extra wetsuit that seemed to have taken up residence in her closet and said she thought it might fit me. I thought it might fit around one of my legs. I felt like I was back in the 80's trying to put on a pair of Jordache jeans that were 5 sizes too small. I'm amazed I didn't pull a muscle just trying to get it on. In the end I needed some help, and as long as I can breathe when it's all zipped up, I'm golden.

On Sunday Sprocketsmom and another local tri girl stopped by to show us around the course during out little mock tri. After doing the course twice, I'm STARVING. Good thing tasty Mexican food was not far away.

I feel way more confident after this weekend that this tri goal is within reach. The legs are very sore today, but that's to be expected. What I'm really happy about is that my back and hip are not complaining . . . . at least not any louder than the major muscle groups in my legs. So I'm actually feeling very proud of the muscle soreness that I've worked so hard for!

    Sprocketsmom was great

I have to say our tri helpers made running look very easy. Hrrrm....

Thanks Jocelyn and Salsa for posting a recap of the weekend. The company was fantastic, the food was yummy, and the location and hosts were perfect. We are all very lucky PNW people.

Here's another picture. It is HRH Wahine adorned in tiara and whip...er...scepter She has that "I just woke up and always look this good" gift. Seriously.

Thumbs up Tri Novices NO MORE!

You are now gnarly-girl triathletes trained by Wahine the wonderful (or wicked, depending on her diabolical training tendencies!)...ready to torpedo through open water, make smooth transitions in a single bound, pedal strong on your ride leg, then get those quads to settle down quickly for your walk/run...to gracefully glide under that FINISH line banner, arms raised triumphantly...ta da!
Looks and sounds like a terrific time; I'm glad for all of you...cool beans, ladies!

I'm pretty darn envious of you girls, that sounds like such a great time...
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

    Here I go!

So inspired to hear of everyone's recent races . . . . plus the fact that I was able to walk away from Wahine's boot camp without aggravating any injuries

. . . I've signed up for the Sept. 7th Sprint in Federal Way.

. . . now I just gotta get myself on a training schedule. Especially with the running and the swimming.

If all goes well I should be pretty comfortable with the run/swim distances a week before the race. Worst case, I'll just be a slow-poke.

Good luck to everyone who is doing Danskin next week!

    Jocelyn, you will LOVE it!!!

Is anyone else going to Subaru? It's at a fantastic place for spectators too. It really will spoil you for other ones.
