    HerSports I subscribe to.

Momentum I pick up at a local bike store (free). I will probably subscribe or send them a donation sometime.

    +1 for Momentum.

It's free if you can find a place that distributes it. As far as I can tell the closest I can get it is downtown SF so I went ahead and subscribed to it.

Also, I like Bicycle Quarterly a lot. It's kind of geeky, but propeller-heads like me might prefer that over Bicycling's phluffy advertisement-driven content.

I like reading Her Sports, but truthfully, I feel like I can't compete with those women. I consider myself a serious cyclist, but I will never be at the level of most of the people featured there. I don't do tris and don't run, so after awhile, reading about that gets old. And while I do participate in other sports, especially in the winter, those women make me feel like a wimp. Especially the 70 year old featured in the latest issue.
I have to keep remembering that people who don't exercise think I am fanatic, so it's all relative!

I've been looking over several back issues of Momentum now, and I have to say I like it particularly because it covers all aspects of biking- in other words the biking lifestyle- using bikes in your everyday life as opposed to only as a sport or recreation. Lots of stuff about health, bike commuting, errand/city/grocery bikes, hauling children around with your bike, bike maintenance, safety issues, bike camping, useful bike accessories, etc.
Also, I noticed while browsing through it that about 50% of the people pictured with bikes are women. Plenty of people riding their bikes in 'regular' clothes. Also lots of articles from the viewpoint of or relating to women bikers- no "special women's sections" to be seen.

It's true that HerSports is now very much focused on pretty high-profile people. Even the "regular folks" section in the early pages, where there are pictures of women with a few tidbits of information about them, has sort of become a showcase for pretty hot chicks, top athletes (regional level but still) and even models (!!). It used to be more diverse. Perhaps I should drop them a line...

    Momentum is one great mag.

when it comes to the "women's section" whether zine, website, blog ... TE's the best of all. Who needs a "women's section" of Bicycling magazine.

Yes, there were ordinary women earlier in Hersports. Some of them incredibly ordinary.

I was one of those women. There is a photo of me...Mar. 2006. I was the oldest featured woman in the little clip bios of women. Which as you all know, I'm not really much of an elder.

I honestly believe my best personal achievements so far in life...are non-sports oriented.
