I'm pretty tired so this is going to be brief.
I had a less than standard taper because I had a virus last week. Even still I felt pretty good going into this race.
In the end I had a good day, no stomach issues and I laid it all out on the course. Here are the stats, these aren't official so I might be off a bit.
Swim: 34 min
T1: 2:30
Bike: 2:59
T2: 50 sec
Run: 1:55
Div place: 8/34
I don't have any other info. My eyes are bloodshot, my legs are burning up, knees are sore and I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get to sleep tonight. But you can never be disappointed in a finish when you leave everything on the course.

Glad to hear from you, and glad you got to go full-out! Hope you DO manage to sleep well.

Nice work! Sleep well.

Way to Go!!!
I'm still trying to figure out how to distribute my efforts between swimming, biking & running so the whole leaving everything on the course is a tough one.
Glad someone here has it figured out, great Job!!!

Nice work Wahine, Congrats!
I hope you have a nice rest now.
Those are some impressive times! Congrats!
I am very stiff this morning. But I'm happy because it just confirms that I went as hard as I could. Thank goodness I took today off work. I had a leisurely drive home from Spokane with a stop along the way to swim for 15 min to loosen up. Now I'm having lunch and heading to bed for a nap.
RnR - I PB'd on the run and my overall time was very respectable but not a PB - my fastest ever was 5:25... so I was only 5 min off and that on a tougher course than my prev PB. So I'm happy.

OK, here's the official race report. In case you were wondering...
I raced this Sunday and since my first half Ironman of the year, Pacific Crest, did not go as planned… I was really anxious to redeem myself at this race.
Troika 2008
Distances: 2 km (1.2 mile) swim, 90 km (56 mile) bike and 21 km (13.1 mile) run.
The official race report…
Reader’s digest version: I raced well, left it all out on the course, finished in 5:30:27. My 2nd or 3rd best time at this distance but on a harder course. Not as fast as I had hoped but I underestimated the bike leg.
More details if you want them…
Swim: 34:04 Place for women overall in the swim: 7/124
T1: 2:33 (a little slow but I got my HR down and put my arm sun/heat protectors on and that served me very well on the run, I also put my receiver on for my HR to make sure I didn’t go too gung ho on the bike, that’s what got me into trouble at Pacific Crest)
Bike: 2:58:15 (the course was a lot hillier than I had thought, I felt good but was definitely tired by the time I got to T2, I lost a lot in terms of placing, I got passed by 8 to 10 women. I was really hungry but had no stomach issues and seemed to have enough fuel just sticking to gels, endurolytes and water) Bike overall: 42/124
T2: 52 sec
Run: 1:54:52 (I ran well and kicked it in hard on the second half, I gained back at least 4 spots on the backside of the run. Don’t get me wrong, it was a sufferfest but worth it) Run overall: 21/124
Place in AG: 8/24
Place for women overall: 24/124
So it remains that the bike really is my biggest limiter. I am very happy with my run, I broke my personal best for the distance and I really poured it on for the last 3 miles, beating another woman in my AG by only 20 sec. I ended up in the medical tent for about 20 min to make sure I was hydrated and that my legs would hold me up. It was a little questionable when I crossed the finish line.
Today I am trashed. Legs are really sore and I can’t seem to get my stomach to cooperate. I’m hungry but I can only eat a little bit before I get nauseated. This seems to be getting better as the day goes on.
Thanks to everyone for their support. Special thanks to Teigyr who acted as my “handler” for the weekend, got me a hotel room and took very good care of me and to my friend T.L. who talked me through tuning my front derailleur and helped to keep me sane especially when I was really suffering on the run (I would just remind myself that at least I wasn’t lying on the pavement in the middle of the night underneath the front of a rented minivan talking to some crazy chick that wanted me to get back on my bike).
Now I’m off for a nap. Take care and be healthy.
