    Hey! That's exactly the bike I have but not in as good of shape. I also have a Schwinn odometer/speedometer which I think I will make into a little clock and a dynamo for the lights.

    I will keep looking to see what people have done!

    perhaps heavy as hell does not matter when touring. you are already adding so much weight to the bike, what are a few pounds?

    I had a Schwinn Suburban as my first fix me up. Heavy as hell doesn't quite cover it. My next bike was a Nishiki mixte which felt like it was half the weight of the Schwinn (and that's saying something...those Nishikis aren't lightweights by any means!). I loved it though and the weight really didn't matter as I used it as a commuter. You will learn a LOT!
