I let Christian Pfeiffer ahead of me in the restroom line.

"I have a show in 5 minutes. I'm going to explode," he said. "I'm looking forward to your show, go ahead!" I said.

Fried pie? A relative of the deep fried mars bar perchance?

I bought a book of 101 cake and biscuit recipes on Thursday. DH thinks I should try to cook them all in a year. He´s volunteered to be chief quality tester, isn´t that nice of him?

Fried pie is what you make when the peaches on the tree are getting over-ripe and it's too hot to light the oven.

Make a little dough, sugar up the peaches, slap them in the dough, pinch it shut and fry it up. http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/byauthor/215602

And what does she say about some recipes that claim the little pies can be baked instead of fried?

what ?!?!? Have you perhaps inhaled it instead?

Cherry pies can be done as mostly goo in between Hostess crud... or tart & tasty homemade

Might just see what I can whip up for a housewarming present

I make a mean banana pudding, I must credit my husband's stepmom for that recipe though. It isn't the baked kind, it is more like a custard. Fantastic stuff.

Tuckerville beat me to the explanation. It gets too damned hot here to light the oven, esp back before AC. & if the cook knows what she is doing, they're not greasy. Even in the old days when they were fried in lard.

Nope, never had one. My mom didn't really bake so other than the occasional chocolate chip cookie or brownies...nada.

Karen, thank-you for the recipe. It's been years since I deep-fried anything, but fried pie sounds so yummy. Does anyone remember the fried pies Mickey D's used to have? I miss those. I bet these home-made ones will be even better.<sitting in a puddle of my own drool>

Oh, man, those were so good! They were one of the highlights of road trips when I was a kid. That's when we got to eat at McDonald's. Yum!

Knot, miss seeing you on the forum. I hope you are doing well.

If you want an excellent fried pie, go by a Popeye's Chicken. It's hot, fried, very tasty and has cinnamon sugar sprinkled all over it. Mmmmmmm.
