Sorry this reply post is so far down the line, I was at 2 mtb clinics this past weekend and have now caught up at work.

Aimee ... you question right, why does the number have the power to upset us? For me, I had to let go of wanting to be a certain weight, my goal was to get healthy inside and feel better overall. I had let myself go so far, that each 10 year age block added on 10-15 pounds with NO exercise. ARGH!!!When the clothes started to fit better and even drop a size ...I felt that was my success. Admittedly I began looking at the weight # ... when I saw the weight start to come off, but I still strive for better eating habits and more exercise.

I got very anal charting things ... it'd probably scare a normal person. But what I've been doing works for me, just strive to be healthy!

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and kind words of support.

As this weight loss challenge is coming to a close, I am already starting to look forward to the next one.

I have been in every one so far, and have lost "some" weight (even if it was just a pound or two) by the end of each one. All together, it has been a loss of 10 pounds since the first challenge.

So, obviously, this type of format works for me. I like having a place to be accountable and also have support from others when I am struggling.

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread.

Sorry for the delay on this!!

I weighed in the same as the previous week, so no change for me. It appears that we have a few challengers out on vacation this week!

    Congratulations, Lynette!!
Not only do you look great in those jeans, but you are the first person in the challenge to have met your goal!! There are a few others who are close, so keep up the good work everyone. One more weigh-in to go!!

Lynette, great job! What works for one may not for another, so just stick to what is working and drive on! For me, I had to find out how many NET calories my body needed to maintain my weight. Once I learned that, I track daily but only look at the average for the week. My body (and mind) does good on a slow, steady loss .... half pound to one pound loss per week.

I'm in for the next challenge ...

Count me in for the next one as well. I feel like maybe I'm finally getting a groove going. Commuting on the bike really has helped. I'm upping my mileage but really weak on getting out on my mountain bike. The humidity here is amping up and tomorrow it's supposed to be hot. UGH. I'm going to try and ride anyway. I love it even if it's not on dirt, I guess it'll do

170.6 this morning. A whopping total of 1.8 pounds lost for this challenge.

But, as Lynnette said, it helps me be accountable. Great job, Lynnette!

Count me in for the next one.

    Final Weight - 138.2

    I am very pleased!

This thread was very inspiring to me. Nice job, everyone. Whether you ended up losing weight or not, just the fact that you all participated is wonderful. It means that you are paying attention to your health.

    Let's all do it again!

Thanks, Tabby! I know that number isn't the only thing you should pay attention to. Especially when you're just starting to workout and develop muscle again. I'm up again this week...182.5, but I'm also comfortably wearing a pair of jeans that I couldn't even bend in a couple of months ago. Whoo hoo! And I was checking my calves out this morning with a big smile on my face. I'm sure I'm going to be developing my thighs into what someone else called "monster legs", but my calves are starting to look HOT! Tee hee! I've started wearing skirts to work again. And I'll be thrilled with monster legs/thighs if they're monsterous because of muscle rather than fat.

    Let's do this again!

According to Mom's bathroom scale, I'm down a smidgen this week, just a tad under 180. But I think Mom's scale is "kinder" than mine at home, so I'll report that as no change. The plan is to bike and hike more next week when we're fewer in the household and (hopefully) there's less wildfire smoke in the air. Right now I'm feeling it scratching at my throat just sitting here at the computer with a window open

Didn't quite make my goal, but did lose some. Enough to look better in my summer clothes, a size smaller than last winter's. If the challenge is on for July/August, count me in!

Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

176.6 for me, which means i actually met my goal of 177. though i'm heading out for a weekend of scrapbooking, which means snacking, so i'm a little worried about what monday will bring. and i'm banned from the bike until tuesday due to a cortisone shot in the right shoulder. but my scrapping friend wants to walk/run while we are away, so fingers crossed that we do a lot of that.

i'm a far way from the shape i want to be in. but the 'fat girl' clothes that i've worn the last few years were almost getting unwearable, and now i'm back into them. so i'm totally game for the next two month challenge so i can try and get to where the bigger clothes are too loose and maybe i can get a size down.

Still 227 here - but I've been riding more, and think there may be some muscle gain in there - at least I hope there is

    So...next challenge??

Gained a little this week with the fair in town and a couple parties. Hopefully I'll stay on track.

Thank you for the challenge, looking forward to the next one!
