I got out for a 50 mile ride today. This will be my last training ride for my metric century next Sunday. I got rained on for 20 of the 50 miles but it was actually a good ride. One objective today was to resolve my saddle/shorts issue. I used the saddle from my race bike, stood on the pedals frequently, stopped every 10-12 miles, and slathered on chamois Buttr at the pee breaks and it worked out pretty well.
Between the strong winds I fought the last several weeks and the rain today I feel like there's little else the ride next week can throw at me.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Went by REI and got some Luna Moons, and got home with 68 miles (bit more than I wanted, but C'est La Vie!)
He came way too close to me. He was on the right side of the road in some brush when I first heard him, then I saw him and he was going in the same direction as me, uphill. I told him how cute he was and he stopped for a second and just looked at me. He was about 15 feet away and I was just staring at him. Now keep in mind I am pedaling up a mtn road and I am about a 1/4 mile from the top. (15 miles up)
After he stared at me I thought he would just run away. He started to trot after me and I kept looking at him. He would go a little faster, so would I. He was also running out of real estate on the side of the road so he was coming closer to me by the stride. I was seriously thinking about turning around so I could ride DOWN hill and get away from him. I kept my eye on him and just pedaled my brains out. He then sped up and came out into the street toward me. He dashed behind me and went under the guardrail on the other side. I thought for sure he was gonna sample my leg. This is THE first time I have ever been chased by a dog while on my bike. Only he wasn't a dog, but he was SOOOO cute. No one was around to see me running away from a wild coyote, but I must have looked foolish. What was funny was I had my camera with me and all I could think of when I was safe, was I wish I could have taken a picture of him cuz he was so close to me. Maybe next time I will have the guts to snap a photo.
