I once found a hawk or kite feather which I proceeded to carry in my back jersey pocket for 100 miles (on my only century so far). (Something I coveted for a long time for shamanic work I do).
I saw a second one on the same ride but decided one emergency stop is enuff. I saw another recently and left it too because I turned once but not far enough and decided that it belonged to someone else.

Stuff I SAW on a ride, think that's another thread but I'll post here.

Sunday I saw a guy on a moderately decked out TT bike with TT helmet and believe me, a screaming yellow, shiny, full-body condom. I mean a full body suit. But what the hey was he doing on a ROAD wearing that thing. Doesn't it belong on the track?

I thought I was going bonkers.
It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

We had a gal here who used to (I haven't seen her in a couple of years) race TT's in a hot pink one....

I've found all sorts of stuff over the years - tools, lots of bungies, a few blinky lights. I ran over a $10 bill once, but I was on a group ride so there was no way to stop and pick it up. I've found 2 wallets (both successfully returned to their owners) while on my bike.

Okay, I know this is about what you find on your ride, but alpine rabbitt started it! I was riding with my friends offroad on the mountain here in Flagstaff one day and all of a sudden this OLD GUY comes ripping down the mountain in a really brief speedo. It was almost scary!

    I'll have to look harder.

So far I have only had success at leaving things on the road - like bits of my skin when I wreck - a little DNA. And I have lost a blinky light. And a freaking expensive bike computer that I turned around for and re traced my ride slowly for 2 miles before I found it. I got off my bike and waited patiently for the Suburban full of kids to pass so that I could pick it up off of the ground but it was smushed to oblivion by the Suburban right before my eyes............

I'll look harder for sure. I saw a ziplock bag of cheese curds once, does that count??

Mimi: Like 70's - (not that that is really old in age), but when you are deciding to wear a speedo on a mountain bike, on a mountain bike, not on a tri bike when you are swimming too - I figure it's kind of old and odd!

I'm 48 and will not wear a bikini on a bike - it was a sort of bizarre site.

I wonder if he had just got something in his TT kit and was testing it out to see how the whole ensemble worked.
Over here its not too unusual to see TT gear on the road as we have no track and our races are all run on the road. But usually people leave their body suits for race day only!

Several times, I have come across the odd shoe on the side of the road. How does one shoe get there? Did the person not notice? Did they just run around with one shoe for the rest of the day?

Other than single shoes, we see bungie ties and some kind of white nylon ties that must come off of feed sacks or something (can't figure out why else there would be so many lying around the road in our area). I've almost gotten to the point where I don't automatically think, "akkk snake" when I see them -- almost Oh, and lots of road kill
