    Goals

    To disable ads, please log-in.

April and May were not kind to me. I did not make my monthly mileage goal. But if I do 31.3 miles tomorrow I will have made up what I should have done those months. I really wanted to mountain bike ride tomorrow since I haven't yet this week. The ride I was going to do is only 18. I suppose I could ride my road bike afterwards to get the extra miles. But it's supposed to be hot tomorrow. (Did you hear the little whine there?)

I'll just have to see how I feel when I wake up in the morning.

go for it ma'am!....you could always ride the MTB in the morning and pick up the remaining miles on the road bike later in the evening when it's cooler.

Anything you want to do that will make you tired for Friday is fine by me. Then, we can ride extra slow and enjoy the scenery.

Well you know I only put this out there so I'd get encouragement and then I'd have to do it somehow. Sometimes it's that little push from your friends that gets you to that place you want to be. The club mountain bikes tonight and I may go out and ride with them.

Don't mountain bike miles count for more? They are usually much harder miles, aren't they?

At this point, I don't have any specific goals--I just ride. When I was a runner, I counted every mile religiously, and kept to my goals even if it wasn't healthy. Now I just try to keep balanced, hard/easy, and get 2-3 runs in per week as well. I think if I ever do set mileage goals, I will weight the miles according to the bike, terrain (hills v. flat), pace, and also give myself credit for running. I don't know quite how that would look, but if I go on a long, grueling mountain bike ride, it's going to count for more than a spin down the paved road. Maybe I'll have to include a weather factor, too--temperature and wind. I've learned I have to keep track of wear and tear on my body as much as mileage accrued. But then, I'm not as young as I used to be!

Not in my accounting system unfortunately. A mile is a mile. Otherwise my commute miles and miles coming DOWN Diablo would have to count for less.

I really wanted to do a century a month this year but ended up with a bum knee... I climbed last night for the first time in 2 months tho and felt good!!! Well, the KNEE felt good... the lungs freakin HURT! LOL... I'm paying now for the lack of climbing...

so next year the goal will be a century a month... my brother is trying to talk me into doing the Triple Crown with him... ROFLMAO!

I would say go for it given the opportunity. I can deal with hot but not constant rain storms like we have been having every afternoon when I am getting home from work. Isn't timing everything.

So, although my message will be late in timing, I say go for it one road ride or the combo.

Arghh... I did everything I could to make today's ride longer. I got home and did my download - short .6.

That heat just wipes me out. I'm ready for a nap. I did an extra hill off road and contemplated trying a new trail, but it looked hot. It started off with an exposed climb. It's funny to see how tiny today's road hills were compared to my off road in my download. And amazing how easy they were when I'm not trying to race up them!

0.6 miles? Drag out the tandem, tool the hubby around the block for a celebratory last day of work ride. Put a bottle of the bubbly in that big old bag of yours.

Who knows when he'll be getting home. He's got his last check (wooohooooo!) but he'll stay until everything is set up just right for the new folks. Even though THEY sat on their butts for weeks. I don't think the new company quite realized how much work would be involved in the takeover. They were thinking small company, small work.

in just about 4 hours for you the heat will cool off and the sun will start to set! sounds like the Perfect time to pick up that .6 miles! and yuppers I know what you mean - last night as I was logging my ride I saw I had ridden 24.98 miles. .98?? well poop - if I'd been paying more attention I'da picked up that .02 miles to make it an even 25.

LOL wouldn't that be great??? I'm single (again) and have no kids so it's not so hard for me to block off the time to do it... MUCH harder for those who are married with families!

and why oh why isn't there some special jersey for the century a month people anyway???
