    1998 Terry Classic Specs?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Does anyone know where I can find the specs for a 1998 Terry Classic? I have emailed Terry directly, but have not gotten a reply back after 5 days.

The bike I am interested in buying is a 17", and would like to find out the frame geometry and specs to determine if it will fit me or not.

I have a 2006 Susan B hybrid in a size 16, and the reach is just a little long for me, so I don't know how the top tube length compares with the Classic. I have corresponded with the owner of the bike, and she really doesn't want to sell it to someone if it doesn't fit them properly. I am 5'5", and have a standover height of 30.5", so that should be OK.

    Thanks!

If you are 5'5" with a 30.5 inseam (and I'm assuming you mean a 30.5 cycling inseam...not your pants, right?)...then a 17" might be too small.

I'm 5'4" with a 28.5" cycling inseam, and I ride a 19" classic. Mine is a 2004, so I don't know if they changed the geometry between 1998 and 2004, but a 17" would be too small for me.

You could try sending a PM to Triskeliongirl. She's got specs for some older Terry's saved on her computer. I don't know if her's go back to 1998, but it's worth a shot. I can also post the specs for the 2004 Classic when I get home tonight if you think that might help you. I believe I have them saved on my home computer.

I'm surprised you haven't heard from Terry Bikes, I emailed them when I was changing out my handlebars. I had quite the email conversation with Georgina.

I looked in my Terry owner manual, but it only lists frame size. No tube measurements. I found this on line:

I test rode a Terry Classic in the 17.5" size in 2002 before I ordered a Terry Isis. There is no 17" size, or at least there wasn't in 2002 or 2003 when I did this. The sizing went 16", 17.5", 19", 21", 23".

I am 5'2"-ish with around a 28.5" cycling inseam, and the 17.5" fit me perfectly. I suspect it would be too small for you as GLC says. Sounds like you'd probably need a 19".

Sorry to disappoint, but better than buying a bike and being disappointed!

That's just what I was looking for- thanks Snap and everyone else! I think this bike will probably be too small for me, unfortunately.

I did email Georgena Terry last summer about swapping the stem on my hybrid, and she answered right away. I think it has been a very busy week with the Wild Goose Chase Ride.

Anytime you have a question about a Terry, post it to their forum on their website. It's not very active, but GT posts there all the time.
