You might consider the Craft Master Short. In my quest for new shorts last year, I ended up returning these because I didn't care for the lower rise on them, but that may appeal to you. I otherwise liked the short and the chamois. Plus, TE has them on sale.

I really like the Shebeest triple S shorts - nice fabric, a great chamois, and a bit less pricey than others. I thin they're also a little shorter than other shorts...

They're low rise, but not absurdly so. I rode the MS ride in them last year and was quite comfortable for 80 *very hot* miles. (had a tropical storm the next day
).

Thanks for the recommendation. I found them on STP for $50! I'm scheduled to do 65 miles tomorrow with some hard core riders...who may just kill me :lol and I'll put them to the test.
