This morning I woke up to....

My 6-toed cat Petey playing with what I thought was one of his toy mouseys. I had put my hand down where he was near my knees and felt the little fur ball with a tail. Then I realized that I was hearing crunching! I put my hand down again and found a headless, 1-legged, real mouse!! EEEeeekkkk! I tossed it to the floor. Petey jumped right on it and kept crunching. By then my dh was awake. I ran to get a Kleenex to dispose of the carcass. Petey has his own door to the outside world. My dh said that the mouse must have explained why he was so hyper last night before the 2 of them came up to bed. Beware of crunching sounds in the night!

    Even if you have mice?

My cat was once in the living room playing with what I thought was a beetle. It turned out to be the tiniest little frog I've ever seen. I got it away from him, and noticed he (froggy) had a cat fur afro on his head. Couldn't let him go out like that, poor little guy, so I got some tweezers and pulled off the wig. A happy ending to what could have been a hairy demise.

Indoor cats don't bring in critters (but they can still catch them if you have mice etc. in the house and then you'd probably be glad for them to do so!).

Erin the cat was a very good mouser. Earned her keep dealing with the mice that lived in my hatchery house. But once she got rid of the indoor mice, she did bring in outside mice to play with.

I wonder how the game of cat and mouse is played across the Rainbow Bridge?

But this morning I woke up to no-one on the bed with me. I'm not sure where the kitties were. Right now I'm too cheap to turn on the a/c, so there are cooler places in the house other than my bed. They don't need to snuggle on me for warmth. Nala the dog was directly in line of the window fan's path. I really need to get her to the groomers to get her summer haircut (shaved).

ACk I want a cat so bad now! My uncle came to my house one summer got drunk and let my kitten out. I have despised him (my uncle) ever since. But oh how I loved my kitten.
