Seems that I would go to Hawaii in few months so I started reading about the possible routes.

If you want to do an overnight hiking trip - be sure to send in your money and get your permit very early.... we planned on doing it, and were denied b/c my hubby did not send in the permit request on time. The day hike is still wonderful and a pretty good workout... and of course beautiful.

We will be travelling to Kauia shortly, and are very excited! Surprised to hear the road riding is good, as I read there are mainly highways to ride on and it can be quite hectic during rush hour.

We are looking forward to the hiking, I'll add some reviews when I get back...oh, what an island to live on permanently!

I just got back from Hawaii and I saw a lot of cyclist of all sorts there. The last day (yesterday) I saw a road club of ladies out for a ride, I was very invious!

At least I know next time I can rent a bike and do some cycling. In Waikiki it would be the best way to get around!

Anyway I totally loved my time in paradise.

you can hire specialized road & mountain bikes from the Bike Shop in Honolulu (dont ride on the side walks in Wakiki otherwise you'll get ticketed !)

I've found that bike groups are quite limited here, not much for social lady riders that aren't into racing ( I think the group you might have seen is the 'over 50's" group....). Road riding here is bit scarey in Honolulu but quieter on the Windward side. Mountain biking/trail riding is great

The Lankai tri was on sunday too

glad to hear you loved your time in paradise

    Hi CC **waves madly***

    All good here.... weather great

Still a bit mad and unsettled..... start college next week as a rather mature student working part time at bike shop which is torture as i'd rather spend than sell bike stuff !!!!

Off road trails have been explored but still lots to see........... rather regret selling the mountain bike in NZ and bringing the Scott across as would have got more use .... however great excuse to go bike shop.... currently stalking a Stumpjumper on ebay

    How are you ???
