Thanks for all your sweet comments, ladies! Paisley is indeed a love and smells really good. Even our neighbor who visited this week commented on "puppy smell". Even her poop doesn't stink yet, I swear it!

I still feel like a slug....but not getting enough sleep night after night, I'm just not very motivated to exercise. I'll be back, though. I've had lulls before for various reasons, and I always come back to fitness, stronger than before.

Once we are back to nice weather (we're having a January-like day today with high in the upper 30s and rain/drizzle -- ugh!), I'm sure my motivation will come back with a vengeance!

I spent the week in the Smokey Mts of TN with some girlfriends riding our endurance horses. We rode 33 miles on Monday, and I ran (on foot next to my horse) about 10 of it, mostly downhill. Man, my downhill muscles hurt! I chose to not ride on Tues - my horse needed a rest day - so I ran the roads but only four miles, and mostly uphill. Rode 18 on Thurs, with about 6 on foot (I have a gps) and rode 10 with about 4 on foot on Friday. Soooo, I had a good week - nothing hurts too badly!! I am back in NY now and back to the gym tomorrow. I may try to road bike there, though.

I am getting ready for a trail run (22K) on May 1, and then the Western States trail run training over Memorial Day (34, 20 and 20 miles). I think I am nuts.

Despite all the running and riding, I am still 10 pounds up from last summer. What's with THAT????

    Run, girls, run.

It's a good thing I posted here earlier or I don't think I'd have been able to drag myself out

No particular objective today other than to just get my feet back running. Junk miles, if you will

Just over 5 miles in a stiff wind. NWS data calls it 17 steady gusting to 33, but I swear it's always windier directly on the beach than at the airport two miles inland. My downwind return leg was fun, though

Most bizarre thing I've seen on the beach in a long time: tracks from someone's spike-heeled, pointy-toed pumps. Out and back, two-thirds of a mile each way (I had to know!). The heel holes were at least an inch deep. I wish I'd seen the person walking in them!

Also four strapping young Beach Patrol guys helping dig out a large-ish motor home that was stuck in the sand. What were they thinking?

Cloudy and a light mist, not too many people out. It started to rain just as I finished my walking cool-down. Perfect timing

I managed a total of 2 miles running today before my leg started to act up. I stopped promptly and walked home. It recovered quickly.

Emily, cuuuuuuute puppy. When I'm having a bad day/moment, I go to the Daily Puppy (Snap told us about this a looong time ago, some of you might remember...). There is a puppy named Prefontaine on page 2 right now.

Oakleaf, I'm always amazed that women can walk in those shoes on pavement. I can't imagine walking on sand in those things. I bet her calves were pretty angry with her at the end of that!

Mr. Yellow is away on business so I skied Friday after work, ran Sat, and ran today. My azz is toast. Then I had a beat-me-up massage this evening. I think it'll take me longer to recover from that than from the 28 miles I ran this weekend. Nothin' like an elbow in the hip and in the iliopsoas. Yeow.

    Good Morning Everyone...

Yoda, the knee was pretty good. A tiny, tiny bit sore on the lateral aspect where the "rub"/chondromalacia (sp...sorry it is 5 am) is located.

Now that was before we did a mt bike ride yesterday. OH MY GOD MY LEGS ARE SORE!!!!

I rode with my SIL, we made the boys go out in front and leave us alone. I rode at my own pace, which was good. There were not any huge climbs, just lots of up and down. I felt great until about 3/4 of the way thru and then my quads went, OK, we are done! I wore one of those neoprene sleeves on my knee while I rode and I think it helped.

DH said it happened to him too, so I did not feel so bad!

Right now my knee feels ok, but I am back to school today, I think I will be teaching from my chair!

    OY.....

Yellow, glad you got out...ahhh..the pain, feels great right?

    Awwww, cute site!

I feel like such a slug...I didn't do anything but play with and take care of Paisley all the cold and rainy weekend; then today, I planned a run in the gym, but things got crazy at work and I didn't make it to the gym. Hoping for a mountain bike ride with a friend after work tomorrow, but it may rain yet again. We need the rain, but <whine.....>

I'm running on Wed. no matter WHAT!
