Hey Ladies,
I thought some of you might enjoy this...
I wrote in to CNN about my bike commute in response to a question on gas prices:

Very cool!
(boy, I wish our gas was only $3.09 a gallon!)

Your picture by the gas pump is so much happier than I look at the gas pump! Good job and great dedication! I admire you for it. If I were less than 35 miles each way, I'd seriously ride to/from work at least part of the time. Just no way to do it for me. I need to MOVE!![]()

Great shot by the pump! I also never know the price of gas. I only drive when I have to go out of town. I may fill up once a month or less.
I love your handlebar bag. Care to share details about it and your trailer? thread drift...sorry.

Thanks, ladies, I am so excited!
uforgot, yea, I have a Bob Ibex trailer (*love* it...super durable and easy to pull with even a lot of weight.) The handlebar bag is Ortlieb's large handlebar bag, totally waterproof and you can buy a camera insert for it. I like that it has a strap too, so you can use it as a regular bag off the bike. [I must say that my choice of 'purses' has changed in the past year!]

That SO rocks!
I really envy you being able to ride to work. Just now, I live about 27 miles (of eminently unsafe roads) from work, but I used to bike-commute when I lived elsewhere. It's a wonderful way to begin and end your day, isn't it? Sure there's the occasional rainy afternoon, but if you're prepared for it, it's do-able. I always loved hopping on my bike at the end of the work day and pedalling past all the cars!
It's even better that you got a CNN "spot"--way to advertise cycling!

Zen, 2? Elk, it's not easy in this market. I have to remodel before I could sell 1 hovel. Right now it's not going to be easy to do even once the extreme makeover is done.
Zen, could you rent both places out till the market eases up? Sorry for the thread hijack TE.
Is it related? Maybe. Here in the Bay Area I'm seeing "imploding" instead of sprawl for a long time. Developments are springing up around transit, close to BART, city centers etc. I'm hoping that will work for me when it's time to sell, it's what realtors call a "commuter's dream".
Less than 2 mile bike ride to BART.

Well don't you look smart and polished as the uber commuter.![]()
I luv it. A positive portrail of cycling by the news.

Good for you! I also drive 35 miles each direction. I need to move too! But, now no one wants to buy that far out of town. Anyone looking for a really great vacation home in the rockies with phenomenal views? Then I could ride my bike everyday!![]()
