Lessons from the first week...
What I learned on my first week of communing:
I finished my first week of commuting...I still have some kinks to work through but here are the important lessons learned:
- A loaded bike takes a lot longer to stop...almost rear ended a car.
- A Surly Cross Check does not turn as quickly as a Scott Speedster...almost wiped out while making a sharp turn.
- When you have a sweet bike, you get noticed...some guy yelled out nice rack (normally I would have been offended!)
- The shortest route is not always the best and it is fun to explore...I took a different route each time.
- Your coworkers think you are crazy and awesome at the same time...maybe this is nothing new!
- I like the intentionality of taking only what I absolutely need...a lesson to apply to other areas of my life.
- Swimsuits stink if they’ve been in your saddle bag all day...remember to take it out at work.
- I need a banana protection device...I hate bruised bananas.
- I hate my saddle...this is a message from my butt.
- Commuting kicks ass….makes me feel like Wonder Woman
