I decided today was the day to stop lurking. So....

    Real name: Elaine
Where do you live? Portland, OR

Explanation of your handle: I suppose it's just a nick-name. I DO like pants however.

    Explanation of your avatar:
It's a pic of me going up steep muddy stairs in my 1st CX race. I think in makes me look like i was "running" up the stairs. but i really, really wasn't.

    Age: 27

    Occupation: Student....

Favorite bike: Don't make me choose favorites, it's not nice.

What's in your stable? Kona Jake the Snake. Specialize Allez. and Old Blue.

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? oh....I'd say around 40, on the down side of a hill I'd bet.

Another picture of yourself or your ride?

Drenched in mud but keeping a brave face: (see below...maybe?)

Most memorable moment on my bike:
I remember it like it was yesterday (it was yesterday). All day I had thought i was having trouble with my left pedal and/or clear, but when I checked it out, nothing seemed wrong. Then later, while riding though a busy intersection my entire left crank arm falls off....while still attached to my shoe. uh, that was an odd sensation. It was ok though. I managed to pedal though the intersection with my right foot, with the crank arm dangling from my left foot. then stopped and got it put back on well enough to make it home. But I still can't believe it managed to work it's way off.

Most fun ever had on a bike?
Riding around empty streets and parks and the golf course in my hometown in Iowa at 2am and later on my mom's old cruiser (before i had my own) with my boyfriend and my good friends, the summer before I moved away.

Close second would be riding around Crater Lake last summer. Amazing!

This "I remember it like it was yesterday (it was yesterday)" cracked me up...I think it was because I pictured you saying this with a mud covered face.

Howdy, everybody. I'm just getting back into cycling after a 15-year layoff. I desperately need to get back into some kind of shape!

    Real name: Jacky

Where do you live: San Antonio, TX

Explanation of your handle: My nephew gave me the nickname "Wacky Jacky" and it's one of those names that tends to stick with a person...

Explanation of your avatar: My new bike

Age (general or specific): 45 (how did that happen? )

    Occupation: Baker

What's in your stable: Trek 7.2 FX

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Low 40s on a descent in the Texas Hill Country...about 15 years ago. I get skeered when I start to go too fast!

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I dunno...I'm sure I've told some whoppers.

Most memorable moment on my bike: I've got several great memories from when I used to ride 'way back when (completing my first MS150, for example) but I'm looking forward to creating more memories as I get back into cycling.

    Getting to Know You!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here it is ladies! Got this off another bike forum and had great fun! Just copy and paste then change to fit you!

    Real name: Jennifer
Where do you live? Michigan Center, MI

Explanation of your handle: Nickname that's clean. You really don't want to know the unclean version. I have a wonderful group for friends that tend to leave their brains in the gutter.

Explanation of your avatar: Sunflowers are much like me. Big, ungraceful, yet beautiful.

Age (general or specific) 33 on Dec. 7th

    Occupation: Laboratory Assistant

Favorite bike: Love the one I just got Trek Pilot WSD.

What's in your stable? See above and Bianchi Brava

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 34 m.p.r. down hill in Battle Creek, MI. Still working up to an everyday speed thats above 14 m.p.r.

Another picture of yourself or your ride? I did, but my computer had a fatal error and it wiped out everything. Love it!

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: I plead the 5th!

Most memorable moment on my bike: It was my first metric and I was very tired and it rained almost the whole ride I was passed by two very small and attractively built women, as well as, my husband and we were just about to go up one of my least fav hills in the ride (i'm not very good with hills) and my DH made a smart a$$ comment and took off up the hill. I am at that time a 225 lb woman took off after him up this giant hill and passed the two women, who passed me. My husband was so proud that I blew right by those girls as if they were standing still.

Most fun ever had on a bike? I took my first ride with clips, which I was afraid of and crashed! Mashed and bloodied my knee and elbow. What can I say...I'm a tomboy!

    Another intro

    Real name: Marielle

Where do you live? Colorado Springs

Explanation of your handle: I've borrowed it from an LGBT cycling group. I like the play on words...be out, outside, outta town, etc. and biking is one of my favorite ways to do that.

Explanation of your avatar: the head badge on my bike

Age (general or specific): 39 in '08

    Occupation: nonprofit management

Favorite bike: whichever one I'm riding, usually.....though the Serotta Ottrot is dreamy

What's in your stable? custom DaVinci steel road bike + vintage steel no-suspension Gary Fisher mountain bike for my commuter

Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? Not sure....probably downhill on the Big Island of Hawai'i

Another picture of yourself or your ride? Hmmm...non digital. I'll work on that this season.

Most memorable moment on my bike: My first century maybe 12 years ago...a now defunct ride called the Tour de Hardscrabble. About 80 miles into the ride there was a WALL of a hill climbing out of the Arkansas River canyon. I had trained well and felt great - I told my riding buddy I'd see him at the rest stop at the top and powered up the incline feeling strong and free!

Most fun ever had on a bike? Often my last ride - but I'm just reminded of a time as a kid when one member of our bike gang got the first 10 speed of anyone in the group - I raced her around the block with my one or 3 speed? and won!

    Out_Spokin',
Did you do the Woman's Tour Hawaii trip? I wore out my breaks going down some of those volcano's.
I think I saw the "team" you borrowed your "handle"--couple years ago I did the MS 150 in Colorado and had some "beers" in the beer garden with members of that team. They were fun!

No, my Hawaii trip was with Bicycle Adventures - a wonderful 30th bday trip from and with my dad and stepmom - but yeah, those volcanos were crazy!

Outspokin' runs some fun hospitality after the rides - glad you stopped in!
