"My predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved;I have been given much and I have given something in return...Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and an adventure." O. Sacks
Being a true Washingtonian (the state!), I cannot take the heat... more than 70 and I'm by a fan and have a cool one in my hand!
Everyone Deserves a Lifetime
I grew up in Central Alberta, but much prefer the PNW weather (Portland). Add me to that bouquet that wilts in the heat. I'm ok up to 80 if humid, up to 90 or 95 if dry. I don't like hot & humid. Sunny & cold is good but so is damp & mild.

I can't find the link now, but recently Mo Bike Fed had a survey called "Are you a winter cyclist?" There were 2 questions. 1) What is the lowest temperature you are comfortable biking in? 2) How many times have you cycled in the past month?
The answers were all-or-none. Either 40F, or no lower limit for lowest temp. Either too many to count, or not at all for number of times on your bike in the last month.
Misty and 55 is fine - I will ride in that all day long. I used to ride in the 30 degree cold and sunny, but I just can't do it anymore as I have gotten older (have Renauds in my hands; arthritis in my back, and just no motivation to ride in the cold); I love hot, the hotter the better! But I don't live in high humidity country.

You know...I can handle pretty much anything, depending on the length and difficulty of the ride. I've ridden in temps well above 100 degrees, and well below freezing...rain, sun, whatever, BUT, of the options given, I prefer cold and sunny.
Ultimately, the 40's through the 60's and sunny is perfect riding weather for me and I find that I can go for hours and hours and hours under those conditions. Extreme heat, cold or wet usually forces me to shorten the ride, and nobody wants that!![]()

I voted for either, but that's only mountain biking. It has to be sunny and hot for me to get on my road bike.
Others have mentioned this, but for me, the humidity has a lot to do with it. The hottest temps I've ridden in (between 60-80 hilly miles/day on a tour) were consecutive days of 105 degrees F. But, the air was dry, and I loved it, when others were dropping like flies.
I also love cold, dry weather. As long as humidity is low, I'm fine with very cold temps.
But, in our 80+ humidity, even 60 feels freezing to me on the bike.

All about the cold! You can put layers on to stay warm, you can only take so many off to get cool and not get pulled over by the cops or park rangers.
I went for the cold and sunny. Anything over 60F is to hot for me anymore. I have no idea how I survived in Arizona.![]()

I'd prefer mild temps rather than cold ones, so I voted 55'.
Although I would prefer either to hot.
That said, my fave temp to bike in is somewhere between 18'C - 25'C which I think is about 60-65'F
How about cool and sunny with no humidity? I could ride all day in that, and well into the night. (OK, no sun, but work with me here.)
Another delicate flower for that bouquet. Heat makes me wilt, and humidity makes me cranky.
I don't feel quite alive unless I have to work a bit to stay warm.

I chose sunny and cold - which I don't really like - I prefer heat. but I wear glasses and misty/rainy does not work at all for me . I commute in winter/summer except when going to court or when it is wet.
Ok,I voted either. Because I have been out on bone chilling days in the single digits to high teens. While on the other end of the spectrum it is 95 but the heat index is 105. Or my all time least favorite 45-50 with a steady rain, brrr. Physically I am much faster and feel better at temps above 90. My average in January on a clear road day is a only 12 to 13mph. Now get me in the heat of July and they are 16-18mph depending on the amount of vert. Flat out can be in the low 20's.
Warm for me -- 65 to 90. Don't care for the blistering, humid heat we get here in the southeast in mid-July, though I've certainly ridden in it. Anything below about 60 and I just wimp out. I like hiking and running in cooler weather, though. Anything above 75 degrees for those activities is pretty much intolerable since you don't create a breeze as you do cycling.

and what about - either (of the first two) - they are both GREAT!!! It ain't "taking it" ... boy, I'd be grateful for 30 degrees...
