Hang in there Beth! Mine was so bad last week they let me do like 5 reps of one exercise and then gave up in favor if ultrasound, ice and electrical stimulation.... This stinks.

    aha

I had an AHA! moment the other day...My leg was "wobbling" a bit more than normal on friday & realized I must do the 1hr of leg strengthening exercises each day! I wasn't home Thursday night to do them and one wobble on fri actually kind of hurt.

Just one of many AHA"s this week..

I walked into my daughter's open cabinet door with my bad arm and almost vomited. Duh!!!

It does seem to hurt less - you guys aren't exactly making PT seem a lot of fun, though... Something to look forward to.

I loved PT - of course, I was getting stretched and massaged the whole time. I had my first acupucture session, it seemed to help a bit, at least for a few days. Maybe if I keep it up the inflammation will go away permanently. N also wants to have a hair analysis done. I'll do it, for sh!ts and giggles, I'm not sure how much stock I put in it though.

My new fancy $200 Roller Mouse arrived yesterday. It was not the hand/wrist savior I thought it would be. I'll keep using it, maybe it's something I need to get used to.

PT can be a lot of fun really.

it just depends on how much you're into S&M

    DO TELL
and the favorite phrase is "Here, let me help you" followed by me, "NOOO!!! STAY AWAY!!! I CAN DO THIS MYSELF!!!"

    I still like them though.

speaking of which, I started my swim class to help with my flexibility and for my back. Now my right shoulder is hurting like %^$^ oui oui oui!!!
feels like its in my rotator. Can't even lie on my right side. Well sort of expect it with broken collar bone around '91 and separated the shoulder back in '74?? Its coming back to haunt me. And my left is slightly better. Broke my collar bone on the left side too '02. I've been told the bones will be stronger than the original. I WOULD HOPE SO!!!

now that its sunny outside, I think I'm going rididng.

Cool Oh, don't get me mad

Went to the dojo, class starts with a 15 minute warm up which is mostly yoga. I can hardly move, I'm so stiff, so little range of motion, this can't go on, got to do something. More yoga, more stretching.

Then training itself started, Saturday is weapons (sword, jo, tanto) which gives me a chance to relaxe and breath. I know that's an odd thought that it's relaxing to have someone go at ya' with a sword but .... after so many years it's just how it feels.

I'm starting to warm up, feel a little better.

We start doing variations on technique and I'm working with a beginner. He's gotta sword, I've got one too, he takes a slice at me, I step aside and .... throw then pin him with his sword.

Now I've got his and my weapon and him pinned on the mat or should.

A word about the weapon these are practice swords, heavy, thick, made of solid Japanese oak. Not the narrow lithe slice of metal you may imagine.

Stepping aside - no problem, throw - no problem, pin - no big deal but I have teeny tiny mousey paws so grasping both weapons during the pin is not working as shown by our instructor. So I have to come up with a variation which will work for my mousey paws.

I've got it figured out when newby guy criticizes me for doing something different on the pin. Now I'll take the helpful hint on the mat from anyone but did I mention that he's a beginner and I'm working towards my Sandan (that's 3rd degree black belt. In other words I'm the senior Nidan, 2nd degree in our school)

Bill hears this and corrects him subtly but publicly, as part of the class. I think it goes over newbys head.

So I'm more motivated than ever to recover and train now. In the loving, non violent, peaceful spirit of protecting all things that is the art of Aikido ..... I'll have to show him why I'm a Nidan and he isn't .... yet

... and why you don't critique your Sempei (senior students) without their ok, nor do you diss women students senior or otherwise.

That .... and my black belt is getting a little tight

No kidding. Try deep tissue massage of the glutes over busted SI ligaments. I almost hauled off and slugged him, but I was too busy doing Lamaze breathing: HEE HEE HEE HOO.

No prolotherapy, I got corticosteroids. Insurance doesn't cover prolo, even though it makes more sense, prolo builds tissue while the steroids can break it down.

I am not into NSAIDS. I prefer Omega 3 to help the body with its natural antinflammatory abilities. Flax seed or fish oil at 3x what is recommended- so about 1000mg. Wash it all down with four ounces of pomegranate juice, or a nice red zinfandel.

Omega 3's? So I could be having sardines instead of Ibu?

LOL... maybe I should teach my man Lamaze... he winces a bit when I do deep massage on his legs, even though he knows they will feel better for it.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
