My husband goes in at 6:00 am tomorrow (Wednesday the 16th) for surgery on his jaw to correct TMJ issues.
The surgeon will saw his upper jaw away and cut it in a couple of places, add some screws, patch him up and send him home.
He has never been under general and is pretty nervous.
I don't do so well with medical related issues.
Please pray:
That if this surgery shouldn't take place, that there will be something in place to stop it.
That the roads will be safe to drive on both going and coming.
That the surgeon will be awake, alert, and skilled and the anesthesiologist too.
That Chris will have peace.
That the general will be without negative consequences.
That I will be calm and have peace.
For quick recovery.
For me to be calm and helpful, not an additional freaked out patient in the room.
For Chris not to throw up in the truck on the way home.
For the kids' care to go smoothly with the grandmothers while we are away.
I really would appreciate that.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for your advice and help in so many ways - bike and other wise.

Hugs to you both!
Most days in life don't stand out, But life's about those days that will...
Fingers crossed and warm healing thoughts to you both. A first time under GA is always the scariest (I've had four surgeries under GA)...but I'm sure all will go well and MrF will be just fine.
Hugs,
Sherry.

FB...hang in there! Be positive...smile...be strong...you will be ok!
My hubby just had surgery on his ankle (A couple nights in the hospital, dislocation popped back into place, 11 screws, 2 titanium plates, 2 large pins, 39 staples, and lots of PT ahead)
I spent the morning with him in the pre-op (delayed because the doc had an emergency surgery before Chris {yes same name...hehe}) when he was taken into surgery I took off to Target (closest store) to occupy the first hour (only a 2 hour surgery). I also had a new Tetris game to play in the waiting room for the second hour...
Try to bring something with you that is mindless time passing...reading did not work for me!...if anything, go to the gift shop and pick up a child's game book.
I don't do so well with medical issues either....but when I was in highschool my Mom had a ton of issues with TMJ. She had a surgery done while my Dad was out of the country (he was an Air Force Pilot) She came home with 2 black eyes and a very yellow tone in her facial skin....it was kinda funny tho cause it was Halloween and she felt well enough to answer the door a few times and the kids thought she had the best makeup ever...hahaha
So...just be prepared for some wacky bruising on his face and DO NOT be afraid to call the docs office with any questions!
again...be strong! and take care of yourself too...he will need you!
Meanwhile...I will send you some positive energy!
I am a nobody; nobody is perfect, and therefore I am perfect.
yowza! good luck to both of you. I am sure he'll recover well.

When my best friend's husband became very ill, I made her a beginner's knitting kit--got her yarn in her favorite color, cast on a scarf width for her, and sent it in a box, all ready to take out and just start knitting on it. Maximal distraction, minimal thought. She knit and unknit that same scarf in doctors' offices and hospital rooms for about a year before she finished it and went on to the next knitting project. She's still knitting like a fiend four years later.
Flybye, we'll be sending out the good vibes.

Prayer Flares going up.
I share concerns...I'm one who doesn't tolerate general well. The good news is that he's gone this long without needing surgery!
Godspeed on comfort and a quick recovery as well!

Prayers and hugs to both of you.
Prayers & good healing thoughts are sent to both of you......
Sending out the positive vibes for all the best outcome.
I have TMJ issues, but they are stress and PMS related. I hope he's cured, for good. There's nothing like the feeling of the whole side of your face hurting like you got hit with a shovel. Even my hair hurts when it moves in relation to my pulse, sometimes.
Lifting weights helps! Realigns my neck and shoulders some way makes it all better.
