I'm sure Bruce is busy todaybut we have at least one TE'er who's away from his family serving in the military.
Happy Holidays Bruce and your biker guys (in the non-gender specific sense of guys).
And to those who are also missing family and friends I'm wishing peace on earth and that they will be safely home soon.

Yes, Merry Christmas, and THANK YOU!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of our troops all over the world. Please stay safe.
p.s. Good News, my brother-in-law is home from Iraq. He's an army captain and he should be stateside for quite awhile, forever I hope.

Merry Christmas Bruce! And to all your buddies over there in the sand box from all of us over here!Thank you to all y'all from the bottom of my heart.
Beth
Happy to hear that, Jenn.
My eldest son gave me a start this evening when he called to say that all his buddies were considering volunteering for another year in Iraq. He managed to get himself in a unit that doesn't go overseas if deployed (although the Army can do whatever they want). He's decided he won't go with his buddies if they go. I just can't believe that some of these guys are willing to interrupt their lives--a couple of them have been in for 20 years already!
I understand esprit d' corps and all that, but I sure hope my son decides for good that his loyalty lies with his young family.
Thanks to all those who are serving, and especially to the families who are doing without their servicemember, and who get so little notice.

It's hard to understand the military mentality. My son just finished his intelligence training and is taking a "vacation" slowly driving back from Virginia Beach to San Diego. He could have easily driven up here for a couple of days, but feels the need to get back. He has so far eluded being sent to Iraq, but he will be going somewhere in March. At first it was Iraq, but now he is not sure, might be Afghanistan.
Here's hoping that they will all be brought home and the killing and dying will end.

Thanks and prayers to all serving abroad (military, civilian feddies, and USG contractors).

Peace in 2008.
I just wanted to say...
Bruce is stateside on leave. Not posting anywhere, with good reason!

Bruce and others: Stay safe and be strong. You've got a whole country pulling for you and hoping that you're safe. While I don't agree with why you're over there, my daily thoughts go to you and your families in hopes that you'll come home safely to the ones who love you most. Thank you for your service and dedication to our country. I admire you more than you could ever know.
Many a New Year's toast will be in hopes of ending the war in 2008 and bringing our soldiers home...
