My younger daughter is currently in graduate school in New Bedford, MA. I told her she was living in the heart of Cthulhu territory, and then I had to explain to her about the strange townfolk with vestigial gills hidden under their turtleneck fishermen sweaters.

Jennifer, those muffins sound REALLY GOOD. What a great mother's day treat!

My great-uncle used to go hunting with Ernest Hemmingway, when Hemmingway lived in Piggot, Arkansas. My uncle lived in Holcomb, MO, in the boot heel where they grew cotton. Hemmingway had dinner prepared by my great-aunt once - when preparing dinner meant plucking chickens. Didn't know the great-uncle well because he died when I was small, but I used to spend a week every summer with my wonderful great-aunt in the old farmhouse.
