Well, in August 2007 I did the century (96 miles or so), and this time, I'm going for the super century (135 miles or so, with more climbing).

And, Snap, wow, what a gorgeous bike. You must have it!

Edited to add: PS to all...I love reading about all the different things everyone is plotting...thank you for responding!!

Thinking about another one-day STP on the tandem, and doing some of the other century rides around the region that we couldn't get to last year.

My goals for 2008 may be changing...I'm working on recovering from tendonitis in my ankle and foot and everything will depend on how that heals.

#1 - complete a century. I did two metrics in 2007 (I believe the second one is responsible for the tendonitis!), but I didn't attempt a century.

#2 - log 3,000 miles. I'm at 2,722 for this year and that will probably end up being it since I doubt I'll be back on the bike before the end of this month. I had every intention of making it to 3,000 this year, but alas, stupid ankle and foot have disrupted my plan.

#3 - learn how to stop and dismount the bike gracefully with one foot still clipped in. And how to start going uphill.

#4 - ride up to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic Nat'l Park in WA. Just have to figure out the logistics of getting my bike up there or finding a suitable bike to rent.

#5 - force myself to start crosstraining. My PT says I should be running. Ugh. I hate running. Maybe fast walking? OK wait, I guess this is supposed to be a goal...so the goal is to run a little bit twice a week.

#6 - have fun and no more injuries!

My goal for 2008 is to spend more time on the bike with my family, and to get faster and better at climbing. I went from new biker to a 111 mile charity ride, last year, but I really missed a whole Spring and Summer with my husband and 2 sons because of training.

Last year was about distance, this year is going to be about speed and power. Less time on the bike away from the family, but more productive intense time on the bike.

To ride up to and over the George Washing bridge with my son, who will then be 10 years old.

To pick up DH after work and bike home together a few times a month.

To go on a few family bike rides with the four of us.

To get up the hill in Prospect Park on a regular basis at 12-14 MPH.

To average 16 - 18 MPH around Prospect Park (instead of 14.6).

To be fast enough to jump on the Peleton in the Park and crack the guy who called me a stupid ***** last year.

To do the River Road, NJ hill at 5-7 MPH.

Oh yeah, and to continue loosing weight and see if improving your muscle mass ratio really works .

2007 was the year of getting back on the bike after a 6 year absence - in Sept. I was riding daily until DST then went to weekend rides. My longest ride was 56 miles. Once upon a time centuries were a regular thing for me. So I have a couple goals for '08:

    1. Work up to a century
    2. Ride RAGBRAI (used to ride it every year....many years ago)

Oh girl we are twin sisters from different mothers! 2006 was my year of getting back on after a 12 year absence. Back in my other life I'd ride 100 miles at least one day of every weekend, sometimes both (never called it a "century" when it wasn't an organized ride ), and TOSRV every year for 11 years in a row. Riding TOSRV again is one of my plans for this year. So go... let's do it!
