Yeah, hate the wars but love the soldiers
There was a Commemoration for the WW I Australian Light Horse charge on Beersheva this week. The usual thing - a mad British plan writ by Upper Class Twits given to Colonial forces with the sure and certain knowledge that it was impossible. So of course it was accomplished. Thats ANZAC for you!
All you need is love...la-dee-da-dee-da...all you need is love!
Thank you for posting this CC. From my Pawpaw who served in Korea to seeing a Medal of Valor presented to someone from my college class two weeks ago and a going away party for my husband's cousin last night (he enlisted in our Army); this veteran's day is reminding me how hard they work. I don't like the war but the soldiers deserve our praise.
I will remember my favorite veteran (my Pawpaw passed in 2003) the way I have the past few years, outside on a bike ride where I will tell him how I love him and miss him.

You don't have to be great to get started, but you do have to get started to be great. -Lee J. Colan
Coming from a military family and now working for the Army, Veteran's Day, is pretty emotional for me.
So raise a pint (or beverage of choice) to the men and women who fought for what they thought was the right thing to do. And in peace time, are always there for when your day goes seriously bad - like Katrina. It was the soldiers that started making some order out of the chaos.

Hear, hear!
We have blue star banners in our windows at our home and our business.
Thanks, CC.

Cheers to all military soldiers all over the world. They pay a big price for our freedom, sometimes giving their life for ours. To all military personnel, and their families, our immense gratitude is forever given to you.

This Veteran's Day has been a particularly poignant one for me.
My father, a WWII vet (Navy, in the South Pacific in the last year or so of the war) has had a tough year, with CAT scans and whatnot confirming that parts of his brain have atrophied and are probably not functional anymore. My mother, 12 years his junior, feels that this is really the beginning of the end. The last few weeks have been very tough for her.
My father would never talk about the war and now he couldn't even if he wanted to. I have never been very close to him, but I am grateful for all he has given me and for the time he dedicated to his country, which he loves.
My thoughts are with all veterans out there, everywhere.
