The clinic is outside of Boston.
I will not have to take off from work.
    It will be crappy drive.
DH does not want to go because he needs a break from my schedule. Everything we have done for the past 9 months has been around my season. Now that my season is over he just wants to go fishing. Completely understandable.

Is there any place nearby he could go play and do his thing, while you do yours?

I would go. I would find him a good spot to go fishing for the weekend, and then I would go. It sounds like a fabulous opportunity! Esp. since that was to be your off season focus.
Tho I must admit that the drive would be a stinker! Esp. if the weather is bad.

    Ohhhh, this is interesting.

    first off, I would go!

I drive 9 to 11 hours to visit my parents all the time.

Buuutttt....this brings up an interesting issue that Mr. and I have been discussing. It's a similar situation.

I want to become a LCI cycling instructor and need to take the prerequisite class. The closest It's offered in Little Rock, Arkansas. It's a 7 hour drive and Mr. says he doesn't feel that it's right for me to make the drive. I feel that this is unreasonable since I have no problem driving long distance. I've driven all over the southeast by myself or myself and small kids and have been fine. So I don't understand his reservation, but want to respect his feelings.

So I'm in a similar situation but with a different slant.

    I'd go for sure!
Then again, a 5 hour drive for us is really nothing. The nearest big city (Tulsa) is 2 hours away, Dallas is nearly 4, Amarillo is 5. For people like us, it's nothing to have to drive far. If you're not so used to it- that's a totally different thing. I've driven as much as 9 hours alone. This was before cell phones for emergencies (yes, I did have a quarter in case- doesn't do much good tho if you're in the middle of nowhere ).

Sounds like a fantastic opportunity- would be hard to pass up.

Yep...I think I am going to go...and try not to be too hard on the DH for not wanting to go. The man took off from work and ent to Tahoe with me for Nationals. In my book, that is support. He just needs a break!

I forgot to answer the question. I'm glad you're going! We may never pass this way again, you know?

What the heck!? Mr. Silver, 7 hours to Little Rock is nothing. (I lived in Little Rock while my hub was working for a company based out of Indy. I know the route well. But then, I took a trip from Arkansas to each coast this year via car with my young son.)

Little Rock is a WONDERFUL place now, with the River Trail and lots of outdoorsy places to go and is very scenic. Then there's the River Market District spawned by the Clinton Library. It's a little hidden gem on the Arkansas River.

Silver, if you do decide to go, let me help you pick your hotel, okay? There are good places to stay and not-so-good and the online sites do not distinguish them.

    Karen
