    Cool

    Cool, thanks.

Only a few weeks to go now.

Anyone got any other suggestions of bike or non-bike related things to do in San Fran, Sacramento or environs?

I plan on buying Christmas decorations (I love Xmas) as the range available here is reasonably limited. I also want to buy some good clothes, boots, shoes, bike apparel etc AND hopefully buy all of the Christmas presents for my family.

I haven't been here before so if anyone has any times, must-see or must-do things, then would love to hear about them.

    Cheers
    Lisa

    Hi Lisa

My hubby-to-be is from Monterey Bay, just south of SF. Its a really lovely place to visit..... not sure what mtb is available around there, but we've cycled part of the bay along the coast line which was just stunning, even from Nz'er point of view

Santa Cruz is always worth a visit, I've been to Wilder Ranch walking, i would imgine it would be great mtb, Santa Cruz is a uni town with great boutique style stores. Gilroy has a huge discount shopping centre ... i've spent far too much money there... and you'd get Xmas decs there too !

Make sure you visit a REI store..... I can spend hours wondering round that store looking at all the bits and pieces................. if only we had one in NZ .......

hmmmm..... I'm quite green with envy now

I don't know if you'll be here during this but I always enjoy it.

If you do nothing else on this trip....go to the Headlands of Marin and view the city from the top....you will look DOWN on the Golden Gate Bridge and it is truly one of the most beautiful sights in the world.

The GGB is a beautiful sight from any angle

For an easy walk or bike ride go to the Presidio. Once a military base it's now largely open to the public. You can just loop around the roads there under eucalyptus and redwoods, watch the dogggieees at the beach, hike the wetlands now being restored. Under the South end of the bridge is Fort Point, a Civil War era military base. Cause the South was going to come right through the bay you know Look up and see the GGB from below but watch your feet as waves crash from the bay.

Want art? From here you're near the Palace of the Legion of Honor, one of many fine museums. Want SF local History, climb down the cliffs to the remains of Sutro Baths (watch your step, each year a few people fall) .....
