It's on account of the bridge work - closing it over the LD weekend would disrupt commuter traffic the least.

I like MPs idea. It's scenic, not difficult, and with lots of snack opportunities.

Perhaps people who won't be joining us on the ride could meet us in Tiburon, or even Larkspur, for some eats, then we could ride back on the ferry into SF?

    Lots of food possibilities:

Tiburon: Guaymas (outdoor seating available, mexican), Servino's (Italian, also outdoor food), Jake's

Larkspur: Left Bank (Froggy), Marin Brewing Co. (Right across from the ferry so folks could ferry back to SF if they had a brew)

I'm liking the whole Tiburon loop to Larkspur and Brew pub then ferry back idea....

Hmmmm... is that a food vote from Snap?

I don't know the food/reseraunt scene at all in Marin, so I will defer to you all for the food decision, any of the places sound good to me! Are these all places we can show up to from a bike ride?

They are - I have to say (sorry Snap) that Left Bank is probably the trickiest in terms of where you'd put your bike while eating/drinking because it is right on the street and the patio is very small. That's where the Brewing Co is really good - large rear patio and plenty of places for the bikes to rest. Guaymas is similar and they do have a full bar.

No worries - I'm a LB regular down here, I don't need to go to the Larkspur location.

I'll probably be BART'n up and taking the ferry over, so within walking distance would be nice for me. (My knees 'o crap walking distance, mind you!) Or I call a cab.

I'll just need an approximate time to get there.

Well, you knows I likes my brewskis so the Marin Brewing Co sounds great to me. And they have a very large menu.

The Golden Gate ferry system has added more ferrys between Larkspur and SF over Labor Day weekend on account of the Bay Bridge closure:
    http://www.goldengate.org/news/trans...php#LarkspurSF

So we'll have more afternoon ferry crossings to choose from, one every hour on the half-hour between 12:30 and 5:30. I think we should aim for the 4:30 one, just in case. That gets us to the SF Ferry Building at Embarcadero at around 5:30, and then we'll still need to get back to the Sports Basement (assuming we start from the Sports Basement, which seems like a good a place as any with the plentitude of parking). Hmm, maybe we should shoot for the 3:30 ferry instead?

Oh, and the ferry notice mentions the Sausalito Art Festival that weekend too. Yikes, I had forgotten all about that. Well, we'll just need to give ourselves extra time to wend our way thru Sausalito, I suppose. ( MP, any idea on how this would impact us? )

I'm thinking we should try to reach Larkspur by 2:30, that would give us almost a couple of hours to hang out and party before getting on line for the 4:30 ferry (or, if we decide on the 3:30 ferry, then reach Larkspur by 1:30). Does that sound reasonable?

I'm not sure how long we'd need to ride from the Presidio Sports Basement over the GG Bridge to the Larkspur ferry - I've done it a grand total of once, and I don't recollect how long it took, tho I could probably make an estimate. MP or anyone else, do you have any idea how long it would take at a social pace ?

Ed. to add: It looks like the total mileage starting from near the GG bridge thru Sausalito & Tiburon & around Paradise to Larkspur is only about 25 miles. So if we started around 10 am from the Sports Basement and did some major lollygagging & sightseeing, that would put us in Larkspur around 1, I would think.

Anyhow, just tossing this all up for discussion. What do you all think? Especially Dr. Badger, since this is your party, after all.
