Is that the definition of a dangling participle? I can't remember!!

Happy Birthday Z! Sorry I'm a few days late! I hope you had a wonderful day (sounds like you did) and that you're incredibly content.

Thanks everyone! I've had such a crazy week that my great birthday weekend seems like months ago already!

Hey Slinke! How's it going? A dangling participle is something else, but I had to look it up. The examples are pretty funny:
The robber ran from the policeman, still holding the money in his hands.
After being whipped fiercely, the cook boiled the egg.
Flitting gaily from flower to flower, the football player watched the bee.
    Keep calm and carry on...

Hey Z! It's going great, but I was just thinking about how it's been a year since I've seen your smiling face or ridden in your snazzy little car!! We gotta ride again soon... not that I've been on my bike much lately!

Thank you for the dangling participle definition. I love those examples!!

We were told to call this a "misrelated participial phrase", but that was the British Empire and the 60's (ie before Woodstock)

Weren't we just wishing you a Happy-B Day? Where has the time flown?

My little B-day gift to you (just in case you missed it) is from Bob Roll's column on the TV coverage of the Paris-Roubaix (from the Sept/Oct issue of Road Bike Action). I know you'll appreciate it.

They had decided to forsake prodigy Caucasian jerks chasing a tiny dimpled white ball dressed in horrible polyester plaid outfits.

    Ouch!

    Thank you? I guess?

Hey SK - I'm in your home state right now - I'll be in Santa Fe for a week meeting with clients. My six-year old nephew is learning to ride a two-wheeler!

Hopefully, the balls in Neuvo Mexico have better fashion sense. Go find a good NM stacked enchilada for me, m'kay?

    And some birthday flan. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Happy Birthday, Z!!! (by now probably belated, but some birthdays were made to last)
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
