My DH gets asked frequently to join men's bike groups but he always turns the offers down. He says he'd rather bike with me Now I'm overweight, pokey, ooh & ahh over every beautiful home & garden on the route, and am doggedly determined on every hill while he waits for me at the top. He'd probably have more fun flying along with a group of guys. But every time we see the "peloton" zoom by us, he always mutters something about "How come you never see these guys riding with their wives?" like they're really missing out on the best part of biking!

what a neat guy awm!!! sounds like a keeper!!......go give him a hug and a kiss from me!!
    and welcome to the board!

(ps...he got any single brothers that would like to live in the SW? )
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

A definate keeper ... I hope you are as proud of yourself for continuing to keep pedaling (especially up those hills!) as your dh is of you.

    Things my DH does right:

The comments that glorify a ride. Example: We were riding one dark and rainy night through an underpass where I could hear the crunching of many small and presumably sharp objects under our tires. I wondered aloud what our tires were picking up. His dry comment (and it was the only thing dry that night) "Experience".

His willingness to ride with me. We took a ride on a very cold windy day to a neighboring town for lunch. The ride there was fun, hitting highs in the 30's with that tailwind. Uphills felt like downhills. Going home was a whole 'nother matter. Hills, headwinds and cold. Miserable. At one point we agreed that one of us should be screaming threats of divorce and dismemberment at the other. We were laughing together instead.

He's enabling my wish to tour. Together we're getting William ready for touring, discussing my routes, and he's even volunteered to come get me if I don't make it home in time to make it to work.

He isn't jealous of William and Walter (my bikes).

    Things my DH does wrong:

I'll never tell. (HE gets an earful, though.)

Give big space to the festive dog that make sport in the roadway. Avoid entanglement with your wheel spoke.
