Jeni- I also was a "yoopa" for a short time. I lived in Barbeau just a short ride North of Hessel. But my DH family (extended) grew up in Hessel. In fact I think his parents once had a cabin in that neck of the woods somewhere. We lived right on the St. Mary river.....BEAUTIFUL. The freighters running through the front yard is not something everyone sees in a life time ya know?

I will check with my LBS on some riding, I will also keep lurking here because this is an awesome site for great info.

Heck! We probably know some of the same people! There's some good hunting just south of the post office in Barbeau if you like to spend your day with your bird dog and eating some woodcock and grouse! Too bad Robin was on limited activity while in Hessel last week. She was attacked by the neighbors dog and we didn't get to go play "find the birdies"

I was up there for only a few months when my DH employment was moved back down state. We were able to be there through salmon running time though. Filled the freezer. I also saw a bear which was awesome. But as for know people and hunting............just not there long enough. I'm sure my DH family probably knows some of your people though.
