Yes, stay in touch - a ride together would be great fun!

And as entertaining as it is for those riding with and near me, I don't intend to make falling over a regular feature of my cycling life! Generally, it is pretty safe to ride with me, although I can't speak for your safety in the company of the members of the local branch of "Team Darwin Award"!

Umm, I saw a family of quail crossing the road.

You, on the other hand, encountered a bobcat.

    'nuff said?

A family of quail? Were they fleeing a forest fire?

I still get the giggles every time I think of that mass of teenie tiny chirping baby birds being led by momma & daddy quail.

Bikerz, just coming back from a ride tonight during which there was a point where you came to mind. There's been a hill taunting me for the last year, and finally got guilted into by proxy of our group's very own Drill Sargent. Struggling up the darn thing by myself and finally hit the crest- turn the corner- start picking up speed and cadence--- here comes a crew of 9-10 racer dudes in full "riot" gear-- to which one shouts out "You go girl".... Sarcasm or encouragement? Sitting here in my cushy chair--I'll take it was meant as encouragement- HA!

Hey ladies, save some of the great wildlife adventure for this easterner---- most excitement you get here is dodging tobacco farm tractors and an occassional cow crossing---- waaaahoo! We do know how to live large.

Good luck at the "assessment"; hope you and "she7" are back on the road soon.

    Ah, touché!

Well, I took my poor new bike back into the LBS and got it checked out - unfortunately the rim of my front wheel is bent so I need a new rim

The good news is most of the rest of the damage is easily reparable - Chris is going to do a thorough crash assessment, just to make sure nothing else went wrong, and if my ankle is up for riding on Sunday, I can have the bike back all fixed up almost good as new, with a loaner wheel.

I had to put up with a little good-natured ribbing (e.g. "better order 2 dozen rolls of that dark red bar tape Ann likes - at this rate who knows how fast we'll be going though it!")

Now I just have to get the ankle back in shape.

CC - those racer boys show up at the worst times!

Well, wheels & tape are easily replaceable (tho I know from recent excerience how pricey wheels can be - but well worth it!). Glad nothing else was damaged.

Hope your ankle is all better soon!

The racer boys were nice, I was the one that started it - once we saw you were OK I was the one who said "oooh, in front of an audience!". Or something like that. They were just playing along.

But that IS the rule, after all - all slo-speed crashes must have an audience to garner maximum points value.
