Could someone explain to me the significance of the spoke card? Is it like a bumper sticker?

I have those same Shimano friction/indexed bar end shifters on my Surly. Very nice.

The spoke card is a commemorative goodie given out on some rides

What do I know from Rivendell? all I saw was "Atlantis" Love the graphic, the way the "A" is styled.

Spoke cards used to be used to show the participant's number during a race:

Kids used to put bubble gum cards and playing cards similarly to be "cool" and also to make cool noises while riding. Later yet, bike messengers use them for various reasons plus their individual "ID", good luck, etc:

I have a collection of about 1500 antique postcards from around 1910, which I have been considering putting one at a time in my spoke...they are mostly risque/romance cards.

Knot, I have those same bar end shifters on my Rivendell. I love them, especially since you can often shift with one pinky while riding down in the drops!
