    Review: Smartwool microweight shorts (underwear)

I just bought 2 pair of these. All I have to compare them with are wool Ibex Roaster boxers.

These are very lightweight. Good summerweight. They dry astoundingly fast, much faster than my Ibex woolies or my UnderArmor.

The legs are a bit short, and do ride up on me a little, but not so much that they irritate. The riding-up could be a function of the bit of extra "insulation" I'm still carrying on my thighs from winter...

The waistband is comfortable and doesn't roll. It hits below the belly button in front and comes up high enough in the back that you don't get plumber's butt or have that nasty rubber-band-around-a-marshmallow upper panty-line. Still low enough though that it won't stick out of the top of your jeans.

The stitching quality isn't quite as high as Ibex, but then neither is the price! I have to get out my sewing box and do a few "finishing touches" here and there on each pair, but then I'm fussy.

I went for my morning run wearing a pair under my Adidas poly-something running pants and was very pleased with how they handled the sweat and extra activity. The legs didn't ride up any higher than they already had, and I didn't feel cold and soggy when I stopped running.

Size "large" seems to fit my "large" self ok, but if you are on the edge of L and XL, go for the XL. These are just a bit on the smallish-side of most of my L experience. (I wear L or 12 in just about everything)

Overall I'm pleased with these boxer briefs, and glad I bought 2 pair.

Ah. Good to know I got your size right. Wish I could send you 4 months worth of Norwegian nat'l insurance, but I'm afraid that's not a gift item here. Instead you get a T-shirt from H€ll (http://hellblues.com/webshop/images/...hirt_large.jpg) (not as boxy as the picture) just to prove you're one tough gal once you've survived the insurance gap. I'll leave it with Trek, since we'll be getting back from LA a day too late to meet you this trip.

p.s. Aclima makes wool boxers too. I plan on getting a pair when I get back from CA. I'll let you know how they fit and wear -- assuming Ute.no has them in my size.

    Ooooh, thank you!
It will be perfect to wear as I'm toodling around on my butch-y black new Surly Crosscheck! (then will I be "Surly as He##?")

I'm trying to wrap my mind around the idea of wool undies in the summertime.

You know, being in Texas and all.

    Maybe next winter....
