    Thumbs up Hi Tattiefrit

Have just changed from hybrid to road bike as I plan to do JOGLE august next year, but I dont seriously cycle yet am just a good weather cyclist!!!!
I have been on and off road but not mountain biked really
Would love to be able to do both but i am way to fat yet to do anything much uphill.
I did train to do the nile cycle 2 years ago and was quite ok then but have lost it a bit since.
I would like to do some group cyclign to get the miles in and its so much better to cycle and chat... althought i do appreciate some people dont want to chat ......... i sometimes cant stop (ha ha )
I am going to get in touch with our local CTC as I have just joined

I ride round Rivington (offroad) a lot and your right there are some big (and steep) hills! Its a lovely area considering its so close to Bolton etc, it feels a million miles away from it when your up there. The thing about the masts is you can see them for miles and when you approach them they never seem to get any nearer.

There are a couple of road cycling clubs round Preston as its a big cycling area and I think at least one of them caters for beginners. When I used to live in Fulwood there was a regular CTC meet at the Royal Bank of Scotland on Garstang Road on a Sunday morning. It was before I really cycled but I do remember reguarly seeing a lot of bikes and flouro yellow jackets and I think it is still happening. I did have the information on them somewhere, I can dig it out.

I wish I lived in the north west. Does that count? Unfortunately I'm stuck down here in Essex for another year. Some nice leisurely riding areas around here though if you ever find yourself on this end of the country. Generally flat with lots of nice pubs and tea shops to stop at......
