BTWD is usually organized by local coalitions in partnership with the local transportation orgranizations. All the Bay Area counties celebrated today. While I love any energizer station, I wish I worked near our downtown. The City Hall and County Administration center stations started a friendly competition--both had pancake breakfasts, but City Hall closed off a block for the festivities and the county added bacon and sausage to their breakfast.

Unfortunately my town doesn't draw attention to this event at all. We're lucky if they mention it during a 5 second clip on the evening news the night before. Despite that, I'll still be riding tomorrow unless the rain looks too formidable.

Maybe I'll ride with DD in tow anyway. I think some of the Starbucks around here are giving out free coffee to people who ride their bikes.

    I had a great morning!

I woke up before my roommate and was out of the house in 15 minutes. I biked down to the meeting point to bike from Shadow falls to Rice Park in Downtown St. Paul with the mayor. It was a great morning and I got to ride with people, which I have never done before (am too pokey for group rides). It was great to chat on the ride. One fellow asked me where I biked to work and I said, "I don't have a job, I just like biking!" and then I aked where does he work and his reply was, "At Regions Hospital, I am a cardiologist." Well yay for fun contrasts! They were all great to talk to. Then we cruised down to the park where coffee, bike store coupons, and REI gift bike bottles were awaiting us.

unfortunately, I couldn't stick around long because I had an appointment. From downtown st. paul you have no choice but to go up a monster hill. I have never been able to pedal the whole way up the Grand Avenue hill- but today I did it! that is a personal milestone. But it was worth it because then I had my massage appointment that I had to book it to. what a great day.

Now I am going to finish this ramble to eat up my favorite breakfast eggs in a basket, orange juice, and coffee (and may I say it is the best eggs in a basket I have ever made). thanks for reading about my great day.

It's raining like crazy here today, so no bike to work. I only commuted one day this week.
It's too bad, because I was going to arrange a ride after work and/or get people to ride in. But, when I saw the forecast, I decided it would probably be a lot of work for nothing.

I had a great ride today as well. I did a trial run of the commute last Friday and it took me 1 hour and 45 minutes but this time it only took me 1 hour and 30 minutes. I have a new cyclocomputer and am not sure if it counted the time I was stopped at the Pit Stop. The weather was kinda crappy: 50s, overcast, and a bit sprinkly but that's ok. It was great seeing everyone out on their bikes.
