My beloved Kingsnake, Sammy passed away tonight![]()
She was a real character and would slither onto my hand when I opened the viv door. She would flick her tongue against the glass to attract my attention. I can only hope she was happy in her own snakey way the time I had her.
I shall miss her so much![]()

So sorry Python. How long had Sammy lived with you?
Python- I really feel for you. I have had quite a few snakes in my lifetime. I remember the tears I shed when my little green grass snake "Henry" died when I was a little girl. I buried him in a candlelight ceremony.![]()
Rest in Peace, Sammy.

((((Python)))) I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved Sammy. I love all that is reptilian as well and my heart goes out to you. I used to have Bearded Dragons and was nursing a hatchling hand feeding it with an eye dropper and it died in my hand so I know how it is easy to get attached to our cold blooded babies just as easily as our fur babies. I had more beardies after that and a couple snakes among other lizards, but I don't have any of them anymore. I miss them terribly, they didn't give me any allergy symptoms and my cats do (I still love them and told my allergist I wasn't getting rid of them)
I am very sorry you've lost Sammy, I believe there is a special place at the Rainbow Bridge for our cold blooded non fur babies too.

Don't think of it as getting hot flashes. Think of it as your inner child playing with matches
(((Python))) So sorry about your buddy, sounds like you gave her a great home.

Python, i'm sure your dear Sammy appreciated you as her owner/human.She's probably telling her slithery friends upstairs about a cool lady in England she had as a friend.
Do you have a lot of snakes?
Take care
C
I am so sorry, Python...
Yes I have a lot of snakes. For a brief time yesterday I had 16. I bought my husband a beautiful baby Royal Python (Ball Python) for his birthday which is in a couple of weeks time. We saw her at a reptile shop we visited. She's lovely. Very pretty with gorgeous colours.
It was feeding time last night and that is when I discovered Sammy had passed away. I'd just put my son's young Boa back in his viv when I noticed Sammy was in the same position she'd been in when we went out early afternoon. I opened the viv and usually she would have moved back then come to me. She was quite a long snake so I followed where her body went till I found her head. It was very obvious she'd passed awayWhatever killed her, it must have happened very suddenly as snakes usually turn on their backs when they die. Sammy was the right way up, so it looks like her little heart just gave out. Massive heart attack

We have no idea how old she was, but on hindsight she could have been quite old. The shop we bought her from had got her from someone who didn't want her anymore. They thought she was maybe 4 or 5 and they had her for over a year, so that would have made her at least 5 or 6 but even they didn't know her exact age. Often when people don't want animals, they will say the animal is much younger than it really is because most people don't want an old animal. I've seen that time and time again with dogs and cats and snakes are no exception.
I think I'm feeling her sudden loss so much harder today now that the initial shock of losing her so suddenly has worn off. Last night 15 other snakes needed feeding so that kept my mind focused. Today the grief has set in and I've struggled not to break down at work. I loved her dearly and I hope in her own way she loved me to.
This is Sammy aka Cheeky Face.
I felt sorry for Graham (my husband) as he was so happy at getting his baby Python yesterday. He is so upset at our losing SammyI know she'll be waiting for me one day at Rainbow Bridge.
This is Rosie the baby Royal Python. Isn't she a sweetie![]()

I'm sorry for your loss Python. Losing a pet is such a painful thing. But thank goodness for the way they enrich our lives when they are with us.

So sorry.
For 3 days, I get to part of a thousand other journeys.
Sammy was a beauty Python, I'm so sorry she's gone. Unfortunately many of our furless babies have shorter lifespans, some of course have longer ones, but know she was loved and she misses her mum as much as you miss her.
Rosie's quite a beaut too. I would love to see more photos of your snakes.
