Here was her first 8 mile loop.

    FIRST RUN SEGMENT @ 8.8 mi mark 8.8 mi. (2:18:13) 15:42/mile

Is she on her 6-6.5 marathon mark?

At that pace... it looks more like a 6:45 marathon. ???? I'm sure she'll speed up as she shakes the bike ride off.

    Go Denise!!

It is great that she was reeling them in on the bike- I'm imagining that she is throwing that lasso on her run as well
Now that it will be getting dark I'll be sending her some light bright vibes
    glowing now....go Denise go

At that pace she'll be cutting it pretty close. By my calculation, if she keeps that exact pace, she'll be over by a coupla minutes. It's going to come down to being able to shave about 3 to 5 minutes off somewhere.

Go Denise Go!! I've got goosebumps.

I will be thinking of nothing but Denise over the next few hours.

This gives me flashbacks to last years race.... I could hardly stand the 8 minutes to spare while I was standing there praying!!!!

Well, I had an extra beer for you cuz! I know that the wind will help you sail along....Staying up til midnight for the final report....

    Bad News from IMAZ.....

It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I have to report that Denise had to pull off the course.......;-( She just called me because she knew that we would all worry. She had to stop running at the Third Loop, due to being unable to continue ...she would have to make up 10 minutes somewhere and found that the wind was too much from the bike. She would get ill whenever she tried to run...and at that pace would be pulled from the course and not make the midnight cutoff.

She is very disappointed--and feels that she has such great support that it was a tough (but smart) decision to make.

I for one--want to say how proud that I am that she made such a valiant effort and gave it her all. Her bike time was better than last year--and if the Wind God's would have pulled it out...she'd have made it. So---cheers Denny! We all love you...and we are ALL very PROUD of you...

    Love to all---Terre

IronDenise, you did great. It was a tough course with tough conditions, and you did what your body told you was right. Better to be safe and not finish than finish injured and miserable. Mother Nature might have won this time, but there will always be an opportunity for a rematch.

Congratulations on an awesome job -- rest well, you've earned it.

Thank you for letting us know Terre... I'm sure Denise is very disappointed but we are all very proud of her! I've read that the conditions were very bad out there today ... I think she made the right decision as hard as it probably was...

lots of love to denise and family! I'm very proud to call you my friends
