Woke to strong winds and cold temps (38 F). I decided the best thing to do was crawl back in bed and so I did. Napped until 1:30 (I had a lot of cat help, too) and decided I needed to fix my toilet. After a couple of trips to the hardware store (why can't everything break at once?) I had her flushing again and decided I needed to ride despite the strong winds. I put my layers on and headed out the door and quickly realized it was going to be a long, hard ride today. I decided to ride my short route (14.1 miles) and by the time I turned so the wind was at my back (about the 7 mile mark) my average speed was only 11.9 mphIt was a real struggle and I felt like I had been climbing an endless hill up to this point but once I had the wind at my back, oh boy! By the time I made it home I had worked my average speed up to 14.8 and was very happy to be out of the wind (blowing between 20 - 30 mph).
Spring break has come to an endand it is back to work tomorrow. I had big plans of riding every day during my break but Mother Nature had different plans for she pushed the warm weather away and blanketed us in cold, windy conditions most of the week. The good news is we only have 31 more days to school to go (I only have 29 for I have once again saved my 2 precious vacation days for in May).
