    Arrow California racing plans...

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I thought I'd start a thread for the racers on this board to let others know when they'd be racing in California, in case anyone from the forum wants to come watch, etc. I almost posted this in the Race Results topic heading, but figured this would be more visible & handy here.

This isn't just for me --- So. Cal., No. Cal., wherever-you-are-in-Cal...please post your race plans! That way perhaps race-watching can be planned into road trips, etc. (we might be heading down to Disneyland this summer with the kids....hint!!). It would be a good idea to post your race start time and what team you're on (w/kit colors) so that we can look for you.

    Happy racing....

    Santa Rosa, April 14

I'm looking to do this crit in Santa Rosa: Santa Rosa Corporate Criterium #2

My race starts at 12:25 and is scheduled for 45 minutes. Top five finishers get prizes.

Team: CVC (Central Valley Cycling); dark & light blue w/white kit colors. I'll have another teammate with me, Charlotte. If you see either of us, come say hi. I'll have to remember to tell her beforehand that she may be approached by well-intentioned total strangers.

Hope to see ya there & good luck to those racing...

I'll be doing the Valley Girls Ride in October I'm going to be a wimp and do the 10 miler, but I'm really excited! They also have a 35 miler and a metric century. I think it's in Fresno, or maybe it's Clovis. Oh well, I've got a few months to figure it out.

Oh and I'll be wearing the Just Us Girls Triathlon Club jersey (Pink & black with dragonflies all over it)

Hey Tracy...glad you got to go! I couldn't make it after all....grrrrrr. DH said he wanted to go, but actions speak louder than words and I couldn't get anybody in the house -- him or the kids -- to move their tush fast enough to make it up there in time. My teammate & friend Charlotte nabbed third...she's been rockin' this season thus far. She's podiumed her last four races or so. She's a Cat 3 and I heard she really held her own out there....painfully but she held it, nonetheless. She said it was tactical there at the end. Sounded exciting & I'm reeeeally sorry I missed it. The guys from Merced (Stanislaus-Merlock) and the CVC guys did well, too. It was an awesome day for all ('cept moi....I was pouting at home! ).

I haven't looked past Santa Rosa yet....still nursing the hurt back, but I figure I can try this one and see how I do/feel from there. I've been fairly strong in training, our group rides have been fast lately, so we'll see.

Hope you can make it out to another one!

I'm racking my brain trying to remember the lady that was 3rd... it was a great race! The sprint at the end was pretty exciting!!! In fact, the women's race was almost more exciting than the pro/cat345 race at the end I remember seeing the Merlock team, and some women w/blue polka dot kits...

I wish I could go watch you at Santa Rosa but it won't work out this time ... I expect a full report though!!

October? Aw come on...you can do the 35-miler, no problem, and maybe even the metric if you train well. You have six months to build your conditioning. Definitely ride in the early mornings in the summer if you can in these hot Valley summers. It doesn't cool off much in the summer -- be back from your rides in the mornings by 10am/11am at the latest, and you're good to go. Good luck on your ride!

Man, I SO wanna try track racing. I have an old Bianchi bike that was given to me that I probably can convert to track. All I need is another few hours in the day to work on it and money for new parts, wheels, etc. and I'm good-2-go. Not much to ask, is it?

Well, I'm not doing this race after all. After mulling it over, came to the conclusion that: 1) the fields will be small because of the Sea Otter and Santa Cruz crit on Sunday, so not as many BAR points will be given (which is what Char is going after); and 2) a 40-minute race is perhaps not worth a 3-hour drive; and finally 3) I'd rather go do a nice, long, beneficial hill ride.

However, all is not lost. Looks like we may instead do the Wente Crit on Sunday, April 22nd. This one's in Livermore....mo' betta. It was a fun one last year.

Velogirl (if you're watching this thread) -- didn't you do the Wente crit last year? Hope to see ya there.

Spazz, my husband has been going down there from time to time. He really likes it to the point we even picked up a track bike for him. He hasn't gone much this year, however, since he's concentrating his efforts on several road races for this year. (He's down in the LA area this weekend for one in fact).

    Awesome!
My race (Cat 4 races with the Master 35+ women) is at 2:50pm, scheduled for 40 minutes. The pro/1/2 men race after me.

If you're interested in watching the pro/1/2/3 women (Charlotte's a Cat 3, so we'll be there that early too), that race is at 12:50pm. Should be a good one.
