    Thankfully, no hangover...

And the walk to Peets shook the rest of the "sleepy" out of my bones. I do have the stiffest neck in the west, my head won't turn left... OUCH

Thinkin' I'll be driving to the Cindy expo, rather than doing the Tunnel Rd ride with bikerz this morning.

    sippin'-coffee-spazz

P.S. what's the temp on that side of the hills? Shorts or pants for the expo?

Well, assuming I can get snap out (note to self: bring crowbar), we'll be riding down to the fairgrounds so it'll be either shorts or knickers for us.

Perhaps you can hedge your bets & wear shorts, and leave a pair of pants in the car ?

Why do I think this might take more than a crowbar .... ?

    Oh MAN. Total bummer!

Hope you feel better. Maybe you should play it safe and just not go...let your body detox?

Got a call from Trek. The weather is great, the ride is fun, she was at the lunch stop, and she had a flat.

Oh, and she found 2 more Mondonico riders and they all took pictures.

Edit: 1:10, just got another call. She's at the last rest stop and has about 24 miles to go. Doesn't sound like she's found any other TE'ers yet.

whatever woman gets out of the passenger side of that pick-up, y'all stay away from her and her testosterone poisoned hubby, ok? (if she rides like he drives.... weeeeeell, it could get ugly)
Knott, just one guy in the truck, the driver.

On the other hand....news flash, while the parking line moved slow once you got in .... 2 minutes tops to register. The Cindy organisers finally figure out to put a prince on each letter of the alphabet instead of one guy handeling A-N. Who knew it would be faster. How was everyones ride?

REI called last night that my Sidis are in, whish I had them today because I had shoe issues. Fabulous weather, magnificent, not even headwind....makes up for last year.

    I'm pretty whoooped

The Cindy feels like a tune up ride for ALC, see how things are. I feel strong...but slow. At times I knew I was going up hills in harder gears than expected to be in and felt good. Thanks Spazzdog for suggesting I work on my core, and Knott for the stretches. But I feel slower than I'd like or expected.

I don't really have any data, it's more by feel.

If my feet had been comfy I think it would have been a reeeeeal good ride.

I decided to break out the Specialized road shoes, with smart wool socks. My feet were utterly killing me by the end.

I had a minor fracture of my big toe about a year ago, stil haunts me. Usually I wear Shimano ATB shoes.

By the end of this ride if there was a lake I'd have tossed the shoes in.

But my Sidis have arrived at REI, Snap says they are like putting socks on 8-)

I saw the results of 4 accidents:
    * minor F.U. fall-I stopped and helped the rider up

    * 'bent rider with minor scraped knee-I stopped to call a sag wagon but by the time I found the phone number...they were there. We were in the middle o' nowhere, it's hard to believe we're a bike ride from urban center. The back end of the ride particulary is beautiful.

    * one wipe out on a downhill. Looked like a rider just lost control on swoopy downhill, ambulance came but i could hear EMT and rider laughing so I hope she'll be ok and....

    * bike vs car. driver in hybrid stopped and looked concerned, rider survived and seemed ok but...what was she doing in the middle of traffic? The bike lane there is big enough for a compact car so even if passing...she coulda skidded...don't know.

The Cindy riders had a beautiful day! I think I like the start at the fairgrounds, seems a lot comfier than Camp Parks - love those grassy knolls. jobob, spazz and I went to breakfast/lunch, then wandered the expo. We met up with Adventure Girl, Trek, LLSuperD, Bikerz and Melissam. Quite a good day.

I survived the hangover from hell - jobob's theory is I'm out of training . I'm looking forward to a quiet evening - and lots of sleep!

We also saw CindySue just as she completed the 100-mile ride, looking as if she'd just completed a stroll around the block. Good thing she's so sweet otherwise we'd hate her.

Fun day with the gang, as always.
