I actually was able to get two rides in today. First ride was a quick 14 miler around my community. I rode the same route I rode yesterday. It was a tough ride yesterday, after being in bed with the flu most of the week, but it felt good to be out and about and in the sun. Today, I decided to repeat the ride and my legs were none too happy. I had to battle a headwind the first half of the ride thus causing me to crawl along at a snail's pace. However, once I turned out of the wind things did seem to pick up and I was able to settle into a nice, comfortable cadence. I finished the ride with an average speed which was faster than yesterday's so I was happy.

Once home I changed out of my wet clothing, grabbed a sandwich and loaded the bike. I headed into Louisville to participate in the Sunday afternoon 25 mile club ride. It is not one of my favorite routes but I just could not pass up a sunny albeit chilly day on my bike. The club ride was fast and I was able to hang in there for a better part of the ride. We were buzzing down River Road at a nice pace of around 19 - 20 mph. I had to drop off the pace some for my legs were talking and begging me to slow down some. I listened pulling it down to 16 mph, settled into a nice cadence and continued to buzz along. I was awarded with a second wind after the only big climb and found my way back to my car finishing the ride with an average speed of 15.9 mph. All in all I can't complain. Two good days on my bike and more importantly I finally feel like I've rejoined the human race.

My ride was a snow shoe today, 3.5 miles of crunchy, iced over snow that was very hard to walk on. Saw one cyclist on the way to the trail, but the streets are very narrow right now. It's supposed to be in the 50s by Thursday, so back on the road then.

It's so funny, Robin is looking forward to temps in the 50s and I'm cranky cause for me that's cold.

I just did a short recovery ride today, in my cold 50 degree temps.

Yep, I went snowshoeing today too....tons of snow everywhere, and topped out at 29 degrees today. The bikes are patiently waiting in the garage, chomping on their oats contentedly...

what a gorgeous day! after we did the 69 flights of stairs and messed around most of the afternoon, DH & I got on our bikes and did a leisurely 9 miles to the supermarket and back. He loaded his bike up with 12 pounds of groceries.
I felt stronger the second half of the ride!

I had a great ride today. Beautiful weather and views.

DH and I rode together for 2 hours, up the Hood River Valley towards Mt Hood. We meandered amongst the orchards with their trees just now starting to bud. The "out" part was almost entirely uphill, so we blasted the "back" bit.

I was commited to doing 4 hours for IM training so I went out again, this time up the valley towards Mt Adams. Rolling farmland and pine trees. I climbed for about 15 miles, dropped in on a friend for a moment and came back down. All in all a 4:05 day for me.

    I love spring.
