So when are you two hitting the road? How long will you be travelling? Do you have a laptop or do you plan to stop in to internet cafes to give us updates? And when is the Cinderella? And finally, X - are you officially moving now? If so, how are you moving all your stuff - ie furniture etc? Is that coming along for the ride as well?

I need to know this stuff.

(yes, Kit, no further than that ) But if we do get crazy, we'll take pics, ok?

Y'all have a wonderful day and be safe.
    B...b...buh...b... but you said we'd <mumble, mumble> and <mumble, murmble>!!!

    Oh, and...
If we do get crazy, *no* pictures- c'mon, you know better than to incriminate yourself that way!!! (welllll at least not pics that'll go up here... )
If you do it right, the law allows quite a bit...
just bear in mind all the little weird things-
a group of 4 or more in Eugene who are not wearing socks may be dispersed by the police as an "orgy". It's illegal to own certain things in certain states except as a 'novelty' like a... uh... cake topper or something...
In California it's illegal to peel onions in hotel rooms, and No unoccupied vehicle may exceed 60 miles per hour.
In Texas, it's *specifically* illegal to graffiti someone else's cow.

We could have some really interesting adventures outside the confines of the law without really doing anything bad...

    ..y'know...
    if the urge struck...

Hey, KG - since you need to know... my last day at work is the 22nd. Leaving here on the 23rd, stopping by my Mom's for one more cry-fest and then off towards Cleveland, OH. Picking Kit up that night at the Cleveland Airport and seeing the city the next day for a bit. Then heading straight across to WI to see her folks and friends and Dar. We should be pulling into CA on Friday, 30th. Maybe sooner depending on how the weather and roads are. We can't visit certain places along the way if they aren't accessible. It seems we've been invited to stay with some people in Cheyenne, WY along the way and I definitely want to spend some time in Reno, NV.
Yes, I will be bringing my laptop along on the trip so we will be online in the evenings from our hotel rooms if we aren't otherwise occupied or just plain dead. During the day, we will be in contact with people by cell phone. If anyone wants to be able talk to us along the way, PM me or Kit and we'll exchange info.
As for the moving, I have gotten a semi truck to haul my stuff. I'm not taking that much along so I will be using just a portion of the trailer. They put up a bulkhead behind my stuff and let someone else use the rest of it. So, we all share the expense. It should be in OR one day after me. I just get to pack some essentials like clothes, bikes and my companion in the Jeep and go. No driving a huge truck across the country and it's so much cheaper this way.

CWR - I have extra $$ set back just in case

Kit - I didn't say we'd *mumble, mumble*. I said we'd talk about it later if and when the opportunity arose. Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the cow graffiti thing. I guess I'll just pack my cans of paint in the truck instead. (are sharpies ok tho? i like to connect the dots. ) *considers taking off socks right here and now to see what happens... cuz I live on the edge baby! *

    Towing laws.

Can't tow an unoccupied vehicle with another vehicle, because the in-tow won't have braking or steering and at higher speeds that could be a very bad problem.

Most folks call a tow truck these days, so that law is probably getting out of date. (us old folks remember the days of towing a friend's car with a rope. Man, talk about dangerous for everyone in the vicinity!)

Edit to add that tow bars (the kind pulling cars behind RV's) are a different kettle of fish as they control the in-tow.

X- Oh... gosh... for me, talking about it is as good as consent. Hmm. 'kay. Well... connect-the-spots seems interesting enough... I know, I was let down, too. Can you imagine the exciting ways you could airbrush a cow??!!

The sockless thing was news to me- I go with bare toes all the time in the summer...
    'cuz that's how I roll.

i think its in phoenix, where if your doing this you can be pulled over and ticketed. the person in the vehicle being towed can be ticketed for tail gaiting and the tower gets a ticket also, but i don't remember what exactly its for. i think endangerment or illegal towing or something of the like.

and then there are the 97y.o. way-past-safe-elderly-folks who keep on driving. In many cases, I think we'd all be safer if we let the cat drive instead.

This is just a hair beside the point, but I always loved how my grandma complained great uncle would drive his station wagon like he drove his team back in the day. "He slows down WAAAAY before the stops! It takes him forever to get going! I'm surprised he doesn't try to FEED it!!!"
He ran with it, too... clicked his tongue when hitting the gas when he knew my sis and I would catch it... Great old folks. Made me painfully nostalgic at that age, for the Fremont my parents grew up in, with the clamshell button factory on the Wolf River (which is now the Bridge Bar) ... old Hwy 10 made by the local crews, horse teams and kids (Uncle Alvin was one of those on the crews)... nights of beer and the hand-made instrument band by the old Hotel (which is still standing) with all the 1st gen german folks sharing their oldworld music and homemade pilsners, banjos and washtub bass... dusty roads and whippoorwills in the trees lining the fields... *murmurs on*
*drifts off into the '30s for awhile...*

Don't worry, everyone, I'll make sure we behave. No promises on *how* we'll behave, but we'll certainly behave in a manner best fitting us. I have nothing against women behaving badly.

we had this really cool girl come out a couple weeks ago and try to do some banding. it didn't work (well they got 3 birds) and went back to anchorage. i got to talking to one of them, sarah, and she's all about running and biking. so i told her that if i got the job in anchorage we would have to get together.

i just happen to email her today about moving into town to see if she would still be interested in training together. she said she just hunted down my email as i emailed her because she was just looking up race schedules (running/biking/tris) and wanted to see when i was going to be healed and if i heard anything on the job. well i now have a training buddy, though not sure how badly she's going to kick my @ss. hopefully not to bad. i told her hopefully i'll be running "normally" by june. i'm even more excited and terrified now to move!
