You might want to invest in a little Helmet camera that attaches to your video camera. They can be mounted to your helmet and then you carry the video camera in your pack. I got one for hubby for xmas at helmetcamera.com
It is so cool. He took it skiing this week and we plan on using it biking if the snow ever goes away.

Thanks for the suggestion, but he's trying to do with the equipment he already has. Heaven knows we've spent enough on camera gear.
