Sidi shoes?

Another often unknown sizing faq is that the half sizers are not longer but wider than the parent size, i.e. a 42.5 will be the same length as a 42, but wider.

I understand the difference to between Sidi's whole and half sizes to be slightly different than stated here.

The sole of the 42.5 will be the same length as the 42. However, the toe box will be taller/more square in the front, thus giving extra length via the upper.

So the toe box is roomier, but I'm not aware that the width is greater.

This is my understanding of the difference, but I could be wrong. I can check with the Sidi folks during regular business hours and post again later.

BTW, I wear Sidi Genius shoes. I've had mine for several years and I'm finding that they wear really well. Despite being a few years old, they look nearly brand new. I've worn out the little rubber heel pads, which are easily replaced - a nice feature.

Susan, I think you explained it really well. I've got Sidis in both 38 and 38.5. The soles are the same but the toe box is definitely bigger on the 38.5 pair.

I so love all the replaceable parts. Want to know how to make other people jealous? Show them your replaceable heel pad at rest stops. Let the whining begin.

Do Sidi's sized to size or they a bit bigger or smaller?

I normally wear 8.5 and my feet are more towards the wide side.

They run small.

By the way, Susan, your suggestion that I get men's regular Sidis because the women's were too narrow worked great! Thank you very much for that advice. Just fyi, roguedog, I usually wear a 9 and my feet used to be medium width but have become a little wider with time and gravity. I first had a women's 42 and it turned out to be too narrow. Got a men's 42.5 on Susan O's advice, and it solved the problem.
